I personally think the '97 one is great, but I've started noticing an increasing number of negative comments about it over the years when people complain about the lack of a good adaptation for the series. From what I remember the complaints about it are usually about it being a lower budget adaptation and that it has the cliff hanger ending right at the eclipse.
I don't think the second criticism is very valid as there wasn't as much post eclipse source material available at that time. I also figure that the lack of general market appeal for the series and it not being as well known as it is today lead to it not receiving a sweeping budget.
'97 is the best we've received IMO and since I prefer the non-CGI anime it's probably going to be the best we'll get for a long time.

Back in the day there was an anime music video that used Ninja Scroll footage set to a Cradle of Filth cover of an Iron Maiden song - Hallowed be thy Name. Good video work and matched the song perfectly. The good old days of the internet!
Welcome back, Berserk 2016.
One day Berserk will receive the adaptation it deserves.
I still like the '97 one though.
I wasn't aware that the '97 adaptation was considered bad. 2016 definitely is bad, don't get me wrong, but '97?

Or is it the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure fighting game?
Oof, the CG animation is not good.
I mean... it never really was afaicr. Though its been a while, i primarily remember the impressive amount of ways people were exploded by fists.
Not what I was wanting out of this reboot. Hopefully the final product will be better.
