AI dubbing is so insanely annoying and i am genuinely baffled by people pretending like it’s Not absolute dogshit. Honestly, like: yeah you saved some money, but if it’s Not 100% Perfect, it will just Sound Like Shit.
Like do you cut corners everywhere? I can’t believe people dilute their brand with shit like that.
YouTube also turned on Auto dubbing for our Channel and it’s so Bad, Like: you put so much effort into getting the Audio to Sound right only for some super robotic voices to auto translate it. Especially as someone who speaks many languages. I have opened a channel before and was shocked by how bad everything sounded until I realized that it was just their AI. I basically would never have checked the channel again because of it.
And I mean it was a German channel - which is my first language. But YouTube decided to translate it to English.

I think in the early days I even saw some comments say they couldn't disable it unless the uploader changed the settings...? I hope I'm remembering wrong or it's been changed. I typically only see those videos and comments after uploaders changed the settings to disable the autodub upon being alerted by comments.
It works okay for narration I guess, but anything else? No. I encountered it with a clip of a game that had Japanese voice acting, and it totally overrode all other sounds. The most egregious case I saw mentioned in comments was on a song. That is the absolute WORST thing that could be auto-dubbed.

But on the other hand, my ESL parents use it quite often for English (and other language) content on youtube when they need to fix the fridge or whatever. They're just not big fans of reading subtitles.
