Recommend a show based on a person's Anime List
Quite a simple concept I've seen done on a multitude of anime forums and communities that I feel would fin in great on Tildes. I'm very excited ~anime is finally a thing and we can start filling it with more casual topics and get to know the fellow weeb Tildoos better.
So the idea is pretty straight forward. You create a new comment branch by posting a link to your Anime List (be it MAL, Kitsune, AL or whatever else) and people who are interested are going to look through it and try to recommend something you might enjoy but haven't seen yet. The hope is, people who get replies on their posts can sort of "pay it forward" and reply to some of the other comments.
But more than anything else, let's have some fun with this. I'm relatively free today so I'll try to look through as many as I can! :)
Here's mine. I just started watching anime this summer. https://anilist.co/user/clonex10100/animelist
That's very exciting! I just followed you, hope you continue to watch and use AniList :)
Given that your only perfect score so far is FLCL, I would suggest checking out the other well-regarded shows made by Studio Gainax. They had an extremely strong studio identity and while you won't find anything quite as frantic as FLCL. In particular I'll recommend Gunbuster (along with its sequel Diebuster), and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Gunbuster is of interest because while it will be the oldest thing you've seen by a decent margin, you can see the roots that lead to FLCL. This one was mainly the child of Hideaki Anno, the mentor of Kazuya Tsurumaki (the director of FLCL), while Tsurumaki himself handles the sequel.
Outside of interest in Gainax, they're both really beautiful to look at OVAs that made me cry like hell while also telling cool scifi stories, with the first centered around time dilation.
Here's my list!

I'm fairly certain mine is missing a decent amount of stuff I watched when I was younger, but here it is.
Mine! Gladly taking both anime and manga recs.
Only really started watching anime this year, but I've been reading manga since I was like 11 or 12 though and sadly I can't remember everything that I've read enough to fit a number to it, so it's missing quite a bit.
I see some Kase-san and Sakura Trick in there so I'm gonna go ahead and drop in a recommend for Flip Flappers
Anime planet is the only one that's up to date and I don't feel like carrying it all over to Anilist tonight: https://www.anime-planet.com/users/Clerical/anime

Seems like anyone can recommend truly any anime you haven't heard of and you'll watch it, judging from that gigantic list XD
I have been watching for at least 5 years now so I've seen a few shows lol ^^ But I'm always open to older shows that I didn't get the chance to catch. On the lookout for those hidden gems!
You might dig Trigun or Outlaw Star, if you're open to watching some older shows.
Here's my (quickly thrown together for the sake of this post) list:

Not sure what I'm watching next so recommendations would be very much appreciated!
Oooh, not a lot of new shows, fun!
Because you liked Nodame Cantabile, which is a terrific show btw, I can safely recommend You Lie in April which, as if to show how thematically close it is, has direct references to Nodame in it. I absolutely adore classical music and music related anime in general so I'd recommend Sakamichi no Apollon, Hibike! Euphonium, Detroit Metal City and Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda. as well.
Not sure if you've seen Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood but from what I've read people hold it in much higher regard than the original that you have on your list.
A lot of the shows that you have on the list I don't really know too much about, unfortunately but here are some recommendations because it looks like you enjoy the Slice of Life, Romcom kinda titles. Barakamon, Toradora!, Non Non Byori and Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou
Great suggestions! You Lie in April & Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda in particular both look like they're right up my alley.
Brotherhood is absolutely on my to-watch list as well.
As someone that loves Nodame Cantabile, I hated Your Lie in April with a fiery passion. I don't feel like the interpretations of the musical pieces were really selected right for the show is the biggest reason for me. I'm a piano player myself, so it really rubbed me the wrong way.
Just wanted to say that mileage may vary.
Sakamichi no Apollon was beautiful, though; Hibike! Euphonium was decent; and I haven't seen Detroit Metal City or Kokoro ga Sakebitagatterunda so I can't say anything about them.
5 stars on Air...have you watched the other stuff that came out in the early part of KyoAni's prime years? Even though I'm not a fan, there's a huge amount of overlap between fans of Air, Kanon, and Clannad (the 2006 one), to the point where watching the others is a bit of a no-brainer. Since liking Love Hina suggests that you're not too put off by that whole romcom mold that it helped solidify, you might be able to keep going with KyoAni, since more ambitious than usual dramas, light comedies, and slice of life shows are kinda their thing. I would recommend The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya to keep with the time period you seem to be interested in, but now that I see Azumanga Daioh, you might be more drawn to K-On!.
Whichever way you go, I think following Kyoto Animation will bear fruit for you.
I haven't! Air was a random recommendation from a friend - made me cry like a baby, but I loved it. Clannad's been mentioned to me on more than one occasion so I'll be adding that to my list for sure.
I'm not registered on any of those sites, but my list is a little short so I'll just write it up here.

3 is my threshold for watchable enough to finish, anything lower than that I dropped before, and most of those I don't remember. Some examples of stuff below that threshold would be Sword Art Online, Darling in the Franxx, and Accel World.
I'd love some suggestions! I watched a good amount of anime from middle school to the end of highschool then sort of stopped for about 10+ years and now I'm getting back into it and liking a lot of the newer things. Here's my list: https://anilist.co/user/Defluo/animelist
I really hate shounen besides dragonball and one piece because I grew up with them. I usually dislike anime tropes and fan service kind of turns me off. There are exceptions to everything though.
Maybe you should try Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu I remember it being a critical darling not too long ago.

My want-to-eventually-watch list
You should definitely try Boku no Hero Academia based on your first likes.
That’s one of my current favorites already :) Haven’t seen the latest season yet though (saving it to watch with a buddy of mine)
It's so good. I figured I'd get sick of it eventually, it's just a classical shounen all the way down, but I keep getting hyped.
MAL or Anilist depending on your preference. I'm in deep so it's rare to come across something I haven't heard of that I think I'd enjoy at a glance but I'm always curious to see what other people can come up with.
This is a great idea OP! Please recommend some for me too guys: https://myanimelist.net/animelist/h313

The two I really liked that I'm looking for more of are Assassination Classroom and Yuri On Ice (the latter I blame for getting me into Anime). Free! also gets an honorable mention. (If it isn't obvious, I'm looking for things with gay and LGBT themes, so anything with the slightest subtext of gay or queer-ish characters will score extra points. That said, it doesn't have to be heavy handed or a main theme at all.)
I just quickly threw one together here. It's probably not comprehensive, but obviously I'll watch pretty much anything with some semblance of a plot or character development--cute slice of life, hilarious over-the-top action, murder mystery, mecha, etc.--as long as it's not an idol anime or straight-up smut (unfortunately avoiding fan service completely is impractical, but I can at least put up with it).
Always open for people to criticize my taste in anime, so here you go. Been watching anime for a couple years, so should be plenty for you to find issue with, and find something else for me to watch. Trying to focus on the older stuff currently in order to see how things have changed.
This is my thus-far incomplete list: https://anilist.co/user/demifiend/animelist.
I might get trashed for this, but I go out of my way to watch anime dubs. I just don't have the time/required focus to watch subbed anime if it's not on the side monitor while I am working.
So if anyone is interested in a "dub" list ive watched over the last year or so, here you go!
