I finally finished Vorkosigan Saga. The last book, Gentleman Jole and the Red Queen, was a bit of a dud despite Cordelia being my favorite character. The domestic and romance sides of everyone's lives was always the least interesting aspects of the novels for me personally, so I was pretty disappointed that's all it focused on. I was really hoping Cordelia would get to show off what an absolute badass she is when faced with a life or death crisis again. But alas, that did not happen, and there was unfortunately almost no real drama, or even any mildly tense moments in the entire book. :(

However, despite ending on a low, I am still really glad I read the whole series, and greatly enjoyed the vast majority of my time reading them all. So thanks again for the recommendation, @stu2b50 and @Thales!

And now it's time to pick another series to start reading from amongst all the other recommendations I received. I think I'm going to go with Worm and Ward next, which was recommended by @hungariantoast and seconded by a bunch of other people too.

Sooooo I started reading Worm last night... and it's not what I expected at all. I was bullied pretty badly as a kid too, so the first parts hit me pretty hard. I generally enjoy dark stories, but this is something that hits a bit too close to home for me. Is the book just going to keep going in that same direction, @hungariantoast?

If so, I think I might pass on it until summer when I can safely handle something this emotionally painful to read. Winter is definitely not the right time for something that dark for me, especially since I struggle with SAD.

Hmmm, if the bullying goes on for 5 'arcs' (chapters?) and actually gets worse than what I read in the first few pages (I haven't gotten to any locker part yet), I honestly don't think I can handle that right now. I will definitely come back to it in the summer when I'm likely to be in a more resilient and stable mood though, since I do still want to read it and see where it goes. But right now I think reading any more would be a bit too risky.

I recently finished Engineering in Plain Sight by Grady Hillhouse of the Practical Engineering channel. It was okay, it could have used more pictures when describing equipment. The chapters on the electrical grid and roads was interesting but the chapter on the water system was pretty dull.

I'm trying to work through In Pursuit of the Unknown: 17 Equations That Changed the World by Ian Stewart but damn is it a slog

I love his YouTube channel, so that's kinda disappointing to hear that Grady's book was a bit underwhelming. :(
