Does anyone else find the trend of adding background music to videos like this, incredibly distracting? Maybe its some sensory overload thing but I can't focus on the content with that music. The host is incredibly charismatic and enthralling. Why add that music at all?
I honestly didn't even realize it had background music until seeing your comment, and then going back to watch part of it again to verify that. I guess my brain just automatically filtered it out...

I guess my brain just automatically filtered it out or something. But now that you have brought it to my attention, I can’t seem to ignore it anymore. Weird.
My version of this in most TV is how shaky the camera is all the time. I swear I'll get a headache if I watch most shows! My girlfriend (who watches more TV than me) says she doesn't even notice,...

To be honest, I'm more upset with videos that add background music that is too faint to make out. Especially when they point out that the music they've put in the background is from the thing they...

Especially when they point out that the music they've put in the background is from the thing they are talking about.

Unfortunately, it's also a great ad for Jersey Mike's, and I really really loved them, but post-COVID they've gotten so crazy expensive.
They've always been too expensive where I live. I liked them a lot but I never went there too often because I just couldn't justify spending more than $10 on a relatively simple sandwich.

Eh, I don't mind the Giant as what amounts to two full sandwiches. But rather than being a once-a-couple-weeks food, it's a twice-a-year food for me, just because it's so damn expensive.

Yeah, I miss Alex Delaney and that series too. At least most of the former BA crew seemed to land on their feet, and have started their own things. But I haven't heard hide nor hair of Delaney...

Huh, interesting. Thanks for sharing that. Next time I plan on making a trip to NYC I’m gonna have to give that a read to find some cool spots too check out. It being purely donation driven is...
Huh, interesting. Thanks for sharing that. Next time I plan on making a trip to NYC I’m gonna have to give that a read to find some cool spots too check out. It being purely donation driven is cool, but NYC is an incredibly expensive place, so I hope he’s making enough from it (and whatever else he is doing for work these days) to make a comfortable living.
He definitely had a good approach to tasting and comparing different foods on camera, so I hope he lands on his feet in food media. But his Instagram profile also shows a rather diverse swath of...

It sounds like making the guide donation driven was a new step. I wonder if he thought he could establish himself as a hyper local Frommer's guide and it never took off so he's pivoting to exposure in hopes of raising his profile. But yes, the doc does look interesting!
I was hoping he would start his own YouTube channel at some point, because I really miss his content. However, I seem to remember reading about how uncomfortable he was on camera, and how much he...
I was hoping he would start his own YouTube channel at some point, because I really miss his content. However, I seem to remember reading about how uncomfortable he was on camera, and how much he disliked doing those videos at BA, so my desire for a channel is probably pretty selfish. :( In any case, I hope he finds success doing whatever it is he actually does enjoy.

Same for me, I didn't even realize there was music when I watched this yesterday.
Most people can and do it automatically. Neurodivgence can reduce the ability to do so with stuff like autism.

RIP Alex Eats it All

Apparently he has a NYC guide Google Doc?
