I've come around to cooking shows more and more, but my favourite two food related channels are Binging with Babish (he makes food from pop culture, you should check it out) and Bon Appétit. The latter has a few delightful personalities (It's Alive with Brad Leone is great) but my favourite is when they get Claire, a pastry chef, to recreate treats from scratch. I'm sure more research goes into it than what's presented, but I enjoy watching the process.
Gourmet Oreos was especially successful; some of the other ones are more spirit breaking. The whole series is fun, plus they give you the recipes at the end.

I really enjoy watching a good cooking show, Serious Eats has always been high quality. But my favourite is Chef John (from foodwishes.com) https://www.youtube.com/user/foodwishes absolute star of the game and every recipe of his I've tried has worked brilliantly. One of my favourite things about BA, SE, and Foodwishes is they all teach not to meticulously measure like you might with some other people's recipes.
Special mention to Juanelo1946 for being the nicest cook on youtube https://www.youtube.com/user/Juanelo1946, absolute star even if the recipes are basic. Always low-carb but with fresh fish he catches on video!

Chef John's vocal affectations drive me absolutely nuts and I can't watch him anymore because of it. It wasn't so bad in the early days but it has gotten so much worse with time, to the point where now he almost sounds like a parody of his old self.
I absolutely agree about Serious Eats though, J. Kenji López-Alt's videos and recipes are always amazing and his more scientific approach and explanations behind his cooking techniques reminds me a great deal of another of my all time favorite food personalities, Alton Brown.

p.s. Shoutout to the crews at America's Test Kitchen, Eater (<3 Prime Time and Dining on a Dime), Munchies (<3 Matty Matheson) and Tasty (<3 Eating your Feed) as well though.
