Every tuesday the first thing we do when my girlfriend gets home from work is check for a new binging. We've yet to try any of his recipes but they are always entertaining to watch.
I came across the Bon Appétit channel from their cross promotion and really their videos as well. Claire does a great job of explaining the science behind baking (as in what you need to add/remove/change to get things the way you want them). I especially like the videos where she tries to make a gourmet version of a popular snack like oreos.

I feel like there's a delightful subculture of food-based you-tube channels in New York, and I kind of just want to visit them and hang out.

If you ever do want a peek into the industry, I highly recommend any of Anthony Bourdain's books. Specifically 'Kitchen Confidential' but all of his books are great.
