I have developed an interest in mycology in the past few years for several reasons (including eating and foraging for them), so, going off the title, this video seemed right up my alley. However, the interesting bits of the video are relegated to a couple or so minutes at the front end, where the methods of identifying mushroom species are 'described' (more like 'mentioned'). The rest is some goon making quips at the camera or jarring/disruptive text and images appearing over the video. This video exists under the pretense of foraging for porcini mushrooms, but it's actually about this guy being silly with many cuts and flashy editing-- the purported subject is auxiliary.

I don't know why I expected anything different from a YouTube video, but here I am ranting about a lighthearted vlog on an internet forum when I'm really just not the intended audience.

Yeah, Brad is just a lovable goof in his excursion videos, which are really just meant to be lighthearted romps and not serious examination of the subjects he is exploring. I can see how that...

Yeah, Brad is just a lovable goof in his excursion videos, which are really just meant to be lighthearted romps and not serious examination of the subjects he is exploring. I can see how that might be disappointing when it's a subject you're actually seriously interested in pursuing. When he does his videos on fermentation he takes it pretty seriously though, which is his actual area of culinary expertise.

As @cfabbro mentioned, I think you've got it slightly wrong. Brad is the topic of the video, not the mushrooms. I understand that his delightful buffoonery takes some time to warm up to, but it's...
