Why does dairy-loving America still shun the “milk bladder” when it’s commonplace in so many other countries?

Personally I don't know what would be my motivation really to switch to bagged milk. You can say it saves plastic and therefore helps the environment, but just not drinking the milk would do far more than the tiny plastic savings. Also the fact that I would never recycle a food bag, it goes it the trash automatically. If I stuck a bag into my recycling bin it would never leave, it would get stuck to the bottom and never leave the bin until I pulled it out and did something with it.

The bottle to me also just feels more logical and safer against spills, I've accidentally knocked dozens of plastic bottles off my refrigerator shelf while doing something, and the cap keeps everything in. Without a cap and just a plastic clip, man I would have a mess. Maybe if the bag included a molded cap of some kind that was resealable.

IDK, maybe somebody can explain why this would be something amazing that I just have to have. Cause it just feels like one of those things the rest of the world just does different, but doesn't really change things enough to make me change from what I've always used.

Also random side thought, does anybody else hate carton milk. The carton always seems to fall apart on me when I'm drinking or pouring from it. And I end up with this soggy carton that changes the taste of the milk and just doesn't look very solid or I guess appetizing to drink from.

As a Canadian who has used bagged milk for several decades, most of your worries aren't nearly as bad as you're making them out to be IMO. I have honestly never had a milk bag get stuck in a recycling bin, or knocked over a container of bagged milk... although obviously results there will differ depending on people's clumsiness. However if it is a major concern for you, you could just buy a sealed jug instead of the typical open topped container.

IDK, maybe somebody can explain why this would be something amazing that I just have to have.

While not necessarily "amazing", the biggest factors for me in sticking with bags is their lower cost, smaller portions of milk per bag, and the ability to freeze the milk bags and thaw them later without the taste being effected (unlike other milk preservation methods). And those aspects were especially useful when I was living alone, since drinking/using 2L of milk (typical carton/jug size) before it expired would have been difficult for me, but 1L (typical bag size) was doable, and having more 1L bags tucked away in the freezer was also incredibly convenient.

HO LEY SHIT! Why is this not a thing!? I routinely have to throw out spoiled milk because even the smallest economical packs they sell I can’t get through fast enough. This would be great.

In Canada’s case, the milk comes in a larger package stuffed with three bladders adding up to four liters.

I remember making it a point to suck as much as I could out of the bag to get it as compressed as possible. Just a fun lil kid goal. Anyway, milk out of the carton was much more satisfying. Well, some years later they reverted back to cartoned milk.
