Does anybody play Scythe?

I'm basically very new to complicated tabletop games but I've been in love with this game for well over a year now but it's really hard to find people that want to play it multiple times with me (physically) because the setup and learning process takes 30-45 minutes for the average new-ish player. I just learned (today) that there's also an online component to it. If anybody else loves this game I'd be down to start an online game with you and your friends if they'd like to.

Edit No.1: I don't currently have a way to access steam but I should soon (assuming the Microsoft Surface Pro 9 can run games). If so I will DM everyone on here :)

Edit No. 2: I had no idea that this post would get this many comments (5 at the time of this edit). I'm very glad that my niche nerdy interest resonates with people. Whenever I get my lil computer/tablet thingy I wanna make a group chat thingy (maybe discord, never used before) with y'all so we can set up some games together. Looking forward to our future games.

It’s been a while since I last played because like you, I liked it but there was no one to play it with. If I remember correctly, I have it in Steam. If you’d like to play sometime, send me a PM!...

My friends and I play Scythe fairly regularly. It’s by far my favorite “complicated “ board game. I really like that the material of the pieces remind you what they can do and the way the player mats contain up-to-date state information through the moving of wooden trinkets. Probably the best board design for keeping track of a lot of information I’ve seen.

I'm a fan of Scythe, used to play more frequently but don't have a local board game crew anymore. Would be down to play online.

I'm super excited for this. I just have to wait for my obvious ass Christmas present (the thing I said earlier) and then I'm down.

Scythe was my introduction as well to boardgames outside of the classic ones most people played growing up.

I was enthralled by power dial concept for combat. "What do you mean I don't roll dice?" From there the intricacies of the player board and growing your empires efficiency was such a cool mechanism. Through asymmetric factions on top of all of that and fantastic art to boot, I was in love.

Kept forcing my friends to play it that I think they got burnt out. Most of those games were at or near top player count that even with the fact that the next player can start their top row action while the previous player resolves their bottom row action these games ended up being really long play times.

Something I have learned now that I didn't grasp back then is when teaching modern boardgames to people, your primary objective isn't necessarily to win/maximize your own fun. But to instead maximize everyone else's fun/understanding of the game. That first game in particular is critical to "hook" people. It is an investment in potentially many more future games with people that will have now had the time to truly learn and enjoy the game like you do.

    Yes please!

I've only played it a couple of times because of the long playtime and learning curve, but enjoyed it and would like to play with others. I also, until searching on Steam, didn't realize I apparently own the Steam version already along with Invaders from Afar expansion. So am ready and able to play online if we get a Tildes group together.

Once I get a computer (soon) I'll revisit this thread and try to get a group started.
