(Jokes aside, I'm not sure Mickey Mouse et al. games belong in this category. They're legitimate beloved cartoon characters, now heavily merchandized, but who originally existed solely to entertain as opposed to sell products. And there's a long line of critically acclaimed games featuring them which stand on their own merits.)

Fair enough. I had them in there because I loved them, less because they fit perfectly.

Nah. Sneak King was the greatest of food mascot games. Creepy AND fun. Yes please!

It's an ad, of course, and I apologise on that basis. But to me it's at the very least interesting - it's like at a surreal intersection of modern "approachable" brand culture, as well as maybe an indicator of the resurgence of the tabletop role-playing game genre.

It's obviously trying to get attention by the premise alone being completely bizarre. But the material actually seems to take itself at least a little seriously - the 100 (!) page PDF has over a dozen potential classes, and an included adventure which takes pot-shots at competing fast-food joints. The rules read like a simplified 5e, aside from the rule which gives your character a significant buff if you (in real life) are eating Wendy's while playing it. Yes, really.

I really don't know how to feel about it. I am kind of tempted to run it but also irony is dead.

Of course this comes out shortly after the KFC dating sim. I guess this is what post-social advertising amounts to. Honestly, I don't immediately hate it. But I am very tempted to draw parallels...

I guess this is what post-social advertising amounts to. Honestly, I don't immediately hate it. But I am very tempted to draw parallels to the movie Idiocracy.

It's a cheap experiment so I'm not sure I'd read anything more into it?

Big oops is a lot more fun sounding than critical fail

    BIG OOPS
Rolling a 1 during battle will result in a big oops. Perhaps even
the biggest of oops. You will completely miss your attack, and,
in certain cases, may even hurt yourself or your teammates.
Likewise, rolling a 1 on any skill or stat check will result in your
character’s worst possible outcome in their current situation.

I like the silliness of FEAST MODE for crit success too.
