This is a little complicated, so bear with me for a moment:

    1. The game Homefront: The Revolution included an easter egg that featured some playable levels from TimeSplitters 2.
    2. Even though only a few levels were playable, Homefront included the full TimeSplitters 2 game within its files.
    3. This project surfaces and polishes that full game, acting as a de-facto total conversion mod that turns Homefront: The Revolution into a complete PC port of TimeSplitters 2.
    4. Homefront: The Revolution is currently 85% off in the Steam sale, so anyone who wants to play some TimeSplitters 2 on their PC can do so currently for the fantastically low price of $2.99 USD.

I've been playing it for a bit, and I'm happy to say that it's excellent. I have experienced some graphical issues, but they're minor and don't detract from my enjoyment at all.

Initially, I was thinking the game was too easy because it was designed for a controller and I'm playing it with mouse/keyboard. I was quickly humbled by the challenge mode, as well as some story levels on hard where you cannot abuse quicksaving to get through.

I've long since given up hope that we'll ever get TimeSplitters remasters, so this release is the next best thing.

    EDIT: Saving might be broken

I just booted back into it, and all of my progress was gone.

I then played an Arcade level again to get the trophy, tried to save my profile, and it didn't seem to work. After booting the game again, the trophy was gone. Without saving my enthusiasm for this project is considerably lessened.

DOUBLE EDIT: Saving is not broken; modern gaming has let me forget that there was once a time where we had to do things manually.

I lost progress because I didn't manually save my profile. This game pre-dates auto-saves!

When I got the one Arcade trophy to check saving, I didn't think to load my profile after booting. It works just fine.

PSA for anyone who decides to play this:

Manually save before you exit the game.
Manually load after you boot the game.

Additionally: there is no in-game feedback for saving or loading, so it might not seem like it's working in the moment.

Would I need to keep Homefront installed? Usually wouldn’t be an issue but ssd space is running low atm.

Nope! The installer gives you the option to delete unnecessary Homefront files: You do have to install the full game at first, but you don't have to keep it that way.

Nope! The installer gives you the option to delete unnecessary Homefront files:

Deletes all Homefront files that are not needed in order to play TS2. Reduces the game's size from 46GB to just 2.5GB.

According to the FAQ, you might not even have to download all of Homefront at all.

      1. Do I have to download all of Homefront just to play TS2?

If you haven't downloaded Homefront yet, you can optionally download just enough of Homefront from Steam required to play TS2. This saves about 40GB of internet bandwidth. We have created a script called "TS2-Downloader" that uses a third-party tool DepotDownloader to download specific files from Steam that allows you to play TS2 without having to download all of Homefront. This script is in BETA and requires basic knowledge of how to use Windows batch scripts. If you need help, ask us in Discord.

Brilliant. I don't have any idea about batch scripts so I might need to pop in to their discord if i can't figure it out. Cheers for the clarification!

Ha! I loaded TS2 onto my Steam Deck and have been stuck at the robot factory for a good while - but this is tempting either way to have native mouse and keyboard!
