The thing I find so weird about the World trilogy is how the first two movies were building up to Dominion where dinos are causing trouble globally, but somehow totally squandered it and did a plot about giant locusts. I can only assume even the most refined version of that would be exceedingly stupid, but it could have been very entertaining.

Totally understand. I’m aware I’m fussier than most, so take my thoughts with a grain of salt. Generally I think posts with a comment or two early on get much better engagement overall.

I came in a bit hot with this last time and I’m really not trying to be mean, but I personally think that links to YT should have a sentence or two in the comments to give you an idea of what you’re watching as I don’t want to sit through two ads to find out if I’m even interested. Additionally IIRC YT weighs how much of a video has been viewed in its recommendation algorithm. In this case the video description is really more about the uploader’s process than the content, so now he gets a viewer that quit the video in 10 seconds. Not what he wants I’m sure. Tags obviously help, but this video wasn’t submitted with them.

Like a lot of films the more time passes the more it gets out of step with modern values, but I’d still recommend giving it a watch. If you do I hope you enjoy it!

My experience with Teams has been all bugs all the time and I’m astonished that the opposite experience is actually possible. I attributed it to working on a Mac, so if I’m doing the meeting from home I’ve been trying my Windows PC, but that’s just as bad.

If I’m forced to use Teams I reserve 20 minutes before the meeting just for troubleshooting because it is going to log me out, verify my account, log that out, change my profile pic, not recognise my camera and who knows what else.

I agree with @mituuz that the units look a little rough, the way the hedgehog car units moved felt very wrong and personally I prefer the straight sci-fi or fantasy settings. Something about fantasy mechs has never done it for me.

The fact it’s built for esports is also a big plus, I’ve been missing watching the high stakes RTS matches and inversely to my FPS skills I think I’m actually improving with age.

Overall super keen to get into it. Between this and Beyond All Reason, two of my three favourite styles of RTS are finally getting some time in the sun. If anyone points me to a C&C spiritual successor I might have to check my pulse. Edit: What’s wrong with me? My fourth fav Homeworld is getting a new release soon as well.

There is a video of the translation linked in the article https://youtu.be/pOC9XwpVohA?si=SxrulfmyNMznk3KV no idea how accurate it is as my French is only good for restaurants, but it sounds coherent. Weird hearing that particularly US accent on him!

To your last point I do agree. I was trying to think of a scenario where I wouldn’t mind but really the images have to be authentic even if it’s clearly labelled as AI.

The article describes a news service that pulls news from human authors and “trusted sources” and presents it using AI created presenters, AI translations and AI generated images.

It’s interesting and I don’t think there’s anything inherently wrong with this approach, but I expect it won’t be too long before the trusted sources end up suppling stories about food banks being a hot new restaurant or using racially insensitive images thanks to classic AI biases.

    What does Tildes think?

I changed the title from the site as I didn’t feel it described the article well. Someone let me know if that’s not ok.
