First season of the original show really had some kind of magic, if they can recapture that feeling a reboot could be really good. I still celebrate my successes with “yatta!”

You may already know, but the first season was supposed to be all there was, anthology-style, with a new cast for season two. So the magic I think came from that, maybe this one will follow that...

Interesting, I did not know that. I know the writers strike effected s2 so maybe it was due to lack of time. Many of the stories felt fairly concluded at the end of s1, but it would have been sad...

Warning: Contains juvenile early aughts edgy "humor" but the good still outweighs the bad in my opinion.
Agreed, though I think that it was special because we hadn't been given the Marvel universe yet. In my opinion, a Heroes reboot would be as effective as a Star Wars reboot - the corpse of ideas...

Nobody cares about fantastic origin/coming of age story like nobody cares about cowboys in space.
Firefly was awesome and funnily enough, lives at the crossroads of cowboys in space and witty Whedon one-liners which is the other thing that defines the modern super hero movie.

I'm glad they reworked the original plan for the first season into what it became. The original pilot centered around stopping a middle eastern man with radiation/nuclear powers.

Personal opinion, we are eating really really well on superhero content. We have genuine X-Men shows now instead of prime time safe four quadrant substitute. Even if Heroes needed more time to adjust after the writers strike, it had that when it was brought back as Heroes: Reborn, and it wasn’t even three episodes in where it was back on its time travel fate of the world deal that sunk it chasing the highs of season 1 all over again. Does this show with its talent and its vision need another, another chance?

It’s a good point that the superhero entertainment landscape has changed a ton since Heroes first aired. The Dark Knight hadn’t come out yet, nor had the entire MCU. Today we literally have the term “superhero fatigue” to describe audience burnout with this kind of story. It doesn’t feel like the right time to try it again.
Also, in my opinion Heroes was very much an example of the Lost style of storytelling, where the show builds interest by layering mystery upon mystery with no actual plan to resolve 90% of it. They were just making it up as they went along. It made for an exciting season as it aired but it was ultimately unsatisfying. I don’t think this method is viable in 2024; a lot of people are still wary of it, particularly after seeing how Game of Thrones went off the rails after outpacing GRRM. I’d be worried about a Heroes reboot trying the same trick again.

I don't consider the origial Heroes "superhero content" comparable to Marvel even though obviously by definition it is exactly that. Even with larger goings-on, the stakes always felt pretty personal since they were ordinary people finding out they have a power. The bad guys were grounded in real society & politics with power struggles instead of aliens or larger than life villains. In a sense, it's more melodramatic like a soap opera.
I'm compelled to point out the lesser-known but IMO much more well done "people-with-abilities" show The 4400 that was created within the same era (early 2000s). I'd much rather someone reboot...
I'm compelled to point out the lesser-known but IMO much more well done "people-with-abilities" show The 4400 that was created within the same era (early 2000s). I'd much rather someone reboot that show, it was way more interesting and had much more compelling characters. The original had some excellent actors too, among them Mahershala Ali, who absolutely shines in it.
For people who don't mind K-drama, there is a fairly recent show called "Moving" on Disney Plus that is very similar to Heroes. I'm about halfway through the first season, it's been amusing.

Yeah I somewhat recently tried to get my partner into it before realising good tv then isn’t good tv now.
We're quite blessed that good TV is movie-quality nowadays, that definitely was not the case >15 years ago.
I haven't seen Heroes, but that's a Japanese expression, as far as I know. Yatta (やった) basically means "yay."
It means "I did it!"
Edit: Anybody else remember the ancient Yatta! song meme?
HAPPY DAAAA~

A familiar phrase to anyone who played the original Digimon World

Firefly fans would beg to differ, but your point is taken because Firefly was a one and done.

Here's hoping!

There's something really funny about a show best known for outstaying its welcome, trying to get people excited for a reboot.
They already tried a continuation and it kinda failed miserably.
See also: Dexter. I didn't bother with the reboot, especially after hearing there was yet another awful ending.

If you listen closely you can hear the sound of a finger on a monkey's paw curling: That show actually was rebooted just recently... by the CW.
Oof. Cancelled after one season? That does smell distinctly of monkey paw shenanigans.
They sort of did that with Heroes Reborn. Wasn’t that good though

Why do series need a reboot?
