I'm certainly looking forward to things as I'm relocating from a low cost of living, albeit tiny shit-tier town with nothing else going for it, to a larger area with a higher cost of living. I need my house to sell just so I can cover a 60,000-80,000 down payment just so I can afford something better than the house in leaving.

Just like JCPenney when they switched to "Fair and Square" Pricing.

    • Old pricing model: A pair of jeans being MSRP $39.99, 15% off plus an additional 15% for whatever weekly sale is perpetually active and this weekend only (aka every other weekend) save an additional 10%!!

    • Fair and Square: $26.

Sales tanked because nobody thought they were getting a "deal".

People need something to complain about because they were genuinely spoiled from the days when you could get 90% of streamable media from Netflix and Hulu. When streaming started the biggest argument against cable was "I want to be able to buy the channels I want" and now that they literally have that exact option they're just pissed they can't get every piece of consumable media commerical free for $8.99 per month.

I think that the folks who are investing their money in these players will recognize that the returns aren't always worth what they're putting in

I've never read the books but I was getting genuinely bored during the 2nd movie. They could have easily shaved 20-30 off of it by cutting so much of the "is he the prophet" rants involving Stilgar. And Walken was so miscast as the Emperor...when I first read it I thought it was going to be such an inspired casting choice and Walken breaking from his usual mold...only to be sitting there in the theater expecting him to say cowbell at some point

This has always been one of my top 2 movies of all time! One of the biggest reasons is how, much like the first movie, it's about people who are legitimately in way over their heads, against a superior. They try their best, may be overconfident, but they are getting bested because of stupid decisions and passing the idiot-ball around.

But the director's cut is a far superior film than the theatrical. The only thing they could have left on the cutting room floor was the intro with Newt's family. But the part about Ripley's daughter is a nice kick in the gut, the extended hearing, Hudson bragging, the turrets, and especially the talk about hives.

One thing I never noticed until someone pointed it out though... during the hearing with execs at the beginning, during the initial pan you can see one of them doing a crossword puzzle just highlighting how bullshit the whole thing is to them.

The only thing "broken" are mobile game ads with rewards, but I consider that a feature

I first figured this out when I deployed pihole years ago. I don't use many apps/games that have these ad-based bonuses but if I'm at home and need to spin that wheel it's just as easy as turning off wifi, run the ad, then turn it back on. It's worth the minor inconvenience

I'm glad they reworked the original plan for the first season into what it became. The original pilot centered around stopping a middle eastern man with radiation/nuclear powers.

I smoked my weight in weed in high school and college, and am rather pro-legislation (within reason obviously). I'm not at the "get off my lawn" age yet but even I'm not a fan walking anywhere in public and getting a big pungent whiff of pot. And it still throws me off a tad when I got outside to take out the trash and can smell it from the porch of the renters next door.

It might have worked well if it was it's own standalone series instead of being masked with the QL title.

I watched season one as it was released back when I had Peacock. It just wasn't...good. it lacked the heart of the original while also trying to lean in way too hard on it and expand on so much. It did an ok job of answering a question or 2 that may have popped up by fans, like how people who were leapt into dealt with the experience afterwards. But it too some of the fun out of the show by trying to serialize the season and having a multi-sided story told.

I never cared to even attempt the 2nd season
