And what we want in return is simple: if we give Core access to our data, we want to make sure they’re not just going to build a walled garden app store around our hard work.
Their data came from scrapes and if they actually care about archival it should be made public so multiple backups can exist. What they are accusing is the same as what they're doing

On multiple occasions they have removed functionality to great compliants from the community. Their response has been a shrug and saying they're open to pull requests if someone wants to put in the effort to implement it properly. I do recognize I'm a power user and opinionated, but when +20 other users chime I think it's disrespectful to ignore or write off as a vocal minority.
But also, if this critique doesn't resonate or bother you, definitely give it a shot! As I said, I'm still daily driving.

Edit: I made a userstyle to recreate the old look called Old School YouTube Player

Comment on A better way to watch YouTube in ~tech
moonwalker Link ParentFor reference, YouTube rolled out auto-delete watch history every 36 months. Unless you manually went in and changed that, it's not operating on data from 2006My account is from like 2006, and I've used it actively since then. So the recommendation algorithm really seems to get me.

Eric Hutchinson of "Rock & Roll" fame. Contrarily, his first album is my favorite. But plenty of other singles are great, so I'd recommend checking out his most popular tracks. Singer-songwriter, soft rock, soul.
Watsky of "Pale Kid Raps Fast" fame, a 2011 viral video. The original has since been delisted due to the large shadow it cast over his career. Highly recommend checking out the albums All You Can Do and x Infinity. His music videos are often impressive in some way, and his book is a good read. Alternative hip hop, rap, rock.

This is helpful for comparing 1:1 in a pseudo-quantive way to avoid blind spots. One important thing is after you've filled in everything and it spits out the "winner" you should evaluate how it makes you feel. I once did this with apartment hunting and the emotional reaction helped me identify the one I was actually most interested in, even though the data didn't bear that out.
Not sure they ever had a "real future" to begin with. They were a kickstand on a bicycle actively deteriorating. That being said, I think everyone's actions from the fallout have been net positive for consumers, creating a more open and resilient ecosystem. I think Eric is right to focus on what's in his control while launching these new watches. Mess that up and it doesn't really matter if a deal was made
