I'm hoping this can give me what I wanted (but didn't get) from Steep.

I played and liked the original SSX, but SSX Tricky was my JAM. I used to play through its campaign over and over again, finishing it with each available character. Then, when I was done with everybody, I would delete my save and start it again! I was proud of getting over 1,000,000 points in Showoff mode on every level (except for Aloha Ice Jam, which I don’t think is possible?). SSX Tricky is at the very top of my list for games that I think need a remaster. It’s possibly my favorite game of all time — definitely in my top three.
Not sure if this will scratch the same itch. Tricky for me was so good because it went so over the top — ridiculous levels, ubertricks, gigantic jumps. This game seems slightly more grounded, which isn’t a bad thing — it just means I’ll likely enjoy it for different reasons.
Lol, I installed Descenders on Saturday and have just been getting into it. Clones again! I'm having troubles in the forest, but it's a pretty solid game.

Incredible! At this point, if we’re somehow not clones, then there’s at least some quantum entanglement going on. Too many coincidences otherwise! And yeah, trees are tough.

My comment prompted me to take a break and give it another shot... and I breezed through forest, badlands, and almost all the way to the boss jump on the peaks.

I spent a decent amount of time trying to get to the top of the construction site, but it’s become clear to me that the trials-like parts of the game are not something I’m really interested in getting good at. I’d rather zoom down hills — way more fun!

There's somethibg wonderful about just storming down the hills at breakneck speed. I like that as lot, but I also enjoy just fucking in the menu area and doing low key tricks, like getting to the top of the tents, or trying to jump onto the helicopter. I really want to be better at getting to the top of the construction site. It's really that first part where you have to jump twice in succession that I am bad at.
I'm one of the two Descenders fans here! I don't want to know too much but from what I've seen, I'm stoked. Extreme sports, not just mountain biking! I'm in, as long as they keep the solid procgen in!

I like raw physics in games because it raises the skill ceiling. It's why the original skate was such a breath of fresh air. You could mangle a line over and over... but when you finally landed it, you actually earned it. Snowboarding games have never really hit that level of authenticity, even with Steep in 2016... it was good at snow feel, but still had a lot of rail stickiness and landing assistance that detracted from the satisfaction of landing tricks.
Based on the fact that (at 0:29) the player does a nearly inverted cork 450 into a front board.... I'm gonna say this doesn't look like it's trying to do raw physics. Doesn't mean it won't be fun, but I doubt it'll keep me interested for long.

Whoa, this reminds me of SSX.
I think we have one or two Descenders fans that I've seen around here so figured I'd make their day! I should go back and finish the first game....
The first was such a good game to play with YouTube on the side. Sure this will too.
