Looking for chill horror lets players
I like to listen to mostly horror let’s plays throughout the day and at bedtime because they are good background noise for me.
I just want to find more chill options that don’t do any over the top screaming. Preferably some that need a boost and are lesser known.
I’ll contribute my own to get started. Her name is Hula Noob and she’s very chill, lots of dialogue and commentary which I like.
I do know about Gab too. Though she’s a little more diversified. Which is fine.
When new horror games come out, I usually try to watch SuperGreatFriend's play sessions over others. By day, he's a civil servant in New Jersey but by night he's a mellow sardonic streamer who has a lovely dry wit. There's absolutely no overreaction in his content except maybe a good laugh if something bonkers happens in a game.
Some of my favorites:
Whose Lila? - Bizarre slavic indie horror spread across two executables that goes into some really weird philosophical places.
Martian Gothic: Unification - Quirky puzzle point and click, has a somber horror vibe that I really enjoy along with some really comedic jank.
Alone in the Dark (original) - Screwball old PC horror game. SGF ended up playing every Alone in the Dark title including the modern reboot from this year. The entire series is worth watching.
The only remark I have is that he does 1 hour tryouts of games every stream session and then a larger project for the second half of the stream. The games from the tryouts may never be picked up again. This is also never really discussed. So if you see a playlist with just one video and it's reasonably old, it probably wasn't picked up as a project.
I like to watch will_shand on twitch. Relaxed and silly stream that covers low end indie horror games.
Well, I'm not typically one to self promote, but I think I genuinely fit what you're looking for? I have an indie/short game playlist, and I also played through Resident Evil 2 & 4 if you're looking for some "put it on the TV while cleaning cause this is a long one, boys" series. I also do a Halloween indie bash every year, so I'll be putting out a bunch of horror letsplays starting in the next couple weeks.
I can't promise I don't get animated from time to time, but I generally keep it chill I think. :P
Well, you’ve got a new subscriber here!
Aww, thanks :) hope it's entertaining!
I feel like it's obligatory to mention ManlyBadassHero. He's got a chill voice and attitude, and I listened to his videos of the Death Mark games before bed to help unwind.
I know when I say the name, you're gonna think of over-the-top screaming, but modern Markiplier is very chill, for the most part. He'll get hyped up and yell about something every now and again, but a lot of his playthroughs are pretty standard and straightforward.
In particular, his 3 Scary Games series has him playing a lot of amateur games, most of which don't even get in the ballpark of scaring him, so there's not much to yell about.
Markiplier is my OG fall asleep guy. I used to actively watch his videos to fall asleep rather than kind of background noise.
I just got way less tolerant of his screaming and he would wake me up.
That being said, there was a part of my life that was very dark and I lived on Markiplier and Anthony Bourdain. So he’s very close to my heart.
Lots of nostalgia for the five nights at freddys series.
The Librarian is the embodiment of creepy and comfy. I highly recommend him.
I used to watch a lot of Insym back when I used to play a lot of Phasmophobia. He's really chill and fun personality, genuine spooks on the rare occasion he actually does.
