The sentiment has been parroted ad nauseam, but the problem with this idea is that the left side of the aisle is not full of cultists. People refer to Joe Rogan as all powerful, but it's the people that continually tune in that gives him momentum. People throw darts at Elon for being a rich pillar behind the republican party, but it's everyone that stayed on X instead of abandoning it like they should have that gave any credence to his platform. If anything, a fair amount of the left still engages with right-leaning media because they want to be informed. We don't want an echo chamber, but it means some of us fuel the fire.

There is no scenario in the current climate we live in to which we'd find a leftist propaganda-vomit podcast that will equal the engagement of something like Joe Rogan. The left does not want a vice which is all that podcast and like-minded shows are: They're just rage fuel for viewers to froth at. The left wants problems solved. Regardless of how well it achieves that goal, that's what it wants. And no one, not even alternate-reality-Joe Rogan himself, could solve problems at a mass large enough and interesting enough and lizard-brain-scratching enough to match up.

I get the program is made for testing new technological integrations into surgeries and this was proof-of-concept research, but... if anything is going to put surgeons into retirement, it'll be the weight of the Vision Pro on their necks. Maybe the vision pro is better for the hand-to-AR control, but they definitely need to get Meta on a slight more robust version of their Pro line (as much as I hate that company) as that will be far cheaper even in medical pricing.

I think you might have the age thing a bit backwards. Try coming of age as a new artist where many of the opportunities to work in professional art jobs are being crushed by skill-less prompters. We've already seen instances of D&D art coming through that has ended up being AI generated... that's a slot where a new and upcoming artist could have been. I think, of all the people that should be screaming from the rooftops about AI, the younger generation is going to be the loudest and fervent about it because they're currently losing their artistic voice. It's easy as an older person (and potentially non-artist?) to not see the human side being effected. For them it's real and they're already seeing machines churn through their future.

I enjoyed The Wild Robot more than I expected! The original trailer looked incredibly generic, but while the movie has a lot of common tropes it manages to cover all of them pretty polished. The adults also had a lot of good stifled laughs at the dark jokes... there were a couple surprises haha.

We listened to the audio book on a road trip prior to seeing it. While they do switch some characterizations and events from the book, it was in service of fitting more of the themes from the long-winded book into the shorter movie.

Very good movie for kids and adults, and the last movie from DreamWorks own animators. Definitely recommend!

I've been really enjoying the early access of Lockdown Protocol after getting it gifted. I mostly missed the train on Among Us (my fault, was just tired of kids and people pesking me to play it), so it's been nice to hop into another social deduction early on and help others learn the game.

If you take a look at it and debate with yourself on whether or not to get it, here's a detail I've liked about it: Everyone can work on any task. And it's not just going up to panels and pressing x; the tasks are involved and require multiple steps to complete with some type of teamwork typically needed to finish them on time. This means that there are plenty of opportunities for dissidents (imposters) to sneak into the activities and say... walk away with an essential item and tuck it away somewhere. Or simply pretend to be slightly incompetent.

I've found that the balancing is really fine-tuned, and a lot of the games I've played have ended in buzzer-beaters with the last remaining employee throwing analysis items around with seconds to spare. Once I got all the task mechanics down, it easily became my favorite social deduction game in recent memory.

Well, I'm not typically one to self promote, but I think I genuinely fit what you're looking for? I have an indie/short game playlist, and I also played through Resident Evil 2 & 4 if you're looking for some "put it on the TV while cleaning cause this is a long one, boys" series. I also do a Halloween indie bash every year, so I'll be putting out a bunch of horror letsplays starting in the next couple weeks.

I can't promise I don't get animated from time to time, but I generally keep it chill I think. :P

Amen to that. I have been extraordinarily blessed with a company that respects its workers and has proven it through its actions, but prior to finding it I really thought the only means to find a good work environment was to make your own. I think in some locations that really is the case, still. Good luck to you!

It also can fluctuate in how much it filters depending on your health and nutritional intake. I know someone that has to be careful what they eat because it causes issues with their blood-brain barrier. It isn't necessarily a noticeable issue until you factor in that they are highly reactive to nightshade... so tomatoes will suddenly be a huge problem for them because something else messed with their filter, while a week prior they were slamming down pico de gallo like it was nothing.

Obviously this is simplified to all hell because a) I don't know their diet issues extensively and b) there's way more factors that play into food digestion and reactions. But the blood-brain barrier isn't some catch all net that scoops up plastic and plastic isn't always a solid that can be scooped. This is all very terrifying as this can slowly start to alter how generations think without them knowing why or having direct control over it.

Terminal Montage has been doing video game/speed run parodies for years, but they've recently put out a pilot for their own IP and and it really is unique and quite charming. They take a lot of stereotypes from games and meld them in with the plot mechanics. While it might turn some people off, I really like what they did with the chat boxes for dialogue.

I was just happy to see them post a project of their own creation and nail it. :)

We're starting to see hardware and config software become more and more troublesome in the world of gaming when it comes to balance. It really begs the question how much over engineering developers are going to have to do to maintain parity between player experiences. Or how far is too far before you're ruining people's custom hardware? Dead by Daylight, for example, is actually worse to play on my ultrawide because the game goes off vertical FOV and doesn't allow users to choose a proper 16:9 aspect ratio. But also someone that can fork over extra money shouldn't be able to pay to win over someone who can only afford basic peripherals... right? Should the speed runners of Doom Eternal have to go buy mice with unlockable scroll wheels to be able to bounce around with the best? Or is it fair to allow software to even that playing field?

I'm glad I don't really play shooters anymore because this would drive me insane.

I don't have anything helpful to contribute, but I do get flashbacks to when YouTube had video responses. When reddit was adding the 'live' threads and video player, I was really hoping to see something like an audio-response and dialogue tree system implemented at some point. That clearly did not happen.

Myself and partner still try to... it's a bit of a mixed bag. Right after a wave goes through that we inevitably catch, we'll have masks off and try to enjoy the weather the best we can since we can't catch it again right away. The ideal being that eventually start putting on masks for everything. The problem is that transfer period does not typically work out the way we intend. Much like yourself, we end up forgetting masks at home and shrug as we go in shopping. We try to do our best, but it's also hard when we're the only ones wearing masks and our concern isn't with self preservation but being courteous to others...

Even with the understanding that any protection helps with the spread, it's hard to feel any positive feedback reassurance. Similar to voting, it's important to note that as long as you're participating you're helping. Even if you're not perfect at it or can't feel the immediate effects.

I think calling Covid de-fanged is a bit of an early celebration. There's still large waves of Covid going around and still plenty of deaths. The unfortunate thing is that the media has moved on from discussing it all the time, so it feels like it isn't still present. While vaccines are definitely helping, there's enough people not taking them that wildfires are still crawling around.

To be transparent, some of this might be biased via anecdote: I have gotten sick from two COVID waves this year confirmed with tests, and both times I absolutely should have gone to the hospital. In defense of the anecdote, I think it's a lot easier to follow the news/waves when you're experiencing it yourself, and see how many people are being affected and in what ways.

I've been doing a let's-play of Later Alligator recently and it is hilarious. A paranoid alligator asks you to snoop on family members throughout the city to see what devious plan they'll enact on his birthday. The animation is great. The writing is great. It's all super goofy. The gameplay isn't anything avant garde, but there's enough minigames to keep your attention from character to character.

I also played Nightmare Kart when it came out. I didn't follow any of the development like a lot of people apparently did (previously known as 'Bloodborne Kart'), so I just judged the game on its merits alone. I'm a sucker for games that emulate the PS1 retro feel, and the game hits all those beats perfectly. You can even put in cheat codes! Definitely recommend as it is free on Steam, and Remote Play Together works great to play multiplayer with friends online, at least in my experience.
