The trailer for this game really caught my attention and inspired me to pick up Returnal. Both these games have a style of sci-fi that I really like. It seems akin to Hyperion Cantos by Dan Simmons (and in googling to remember the authors last name I realized that a boss in Returnal is named "Hyperion" so perhaps there is some stylistic influence?)
But while the game play is good, I am a bit annoyed that this sort of story isn't in a more linear format. I have a similar annoyance with Death Stranding. I really want to experience these stories and I like the game play but I wish I could disconnect the two in these games.
edit: after making this post I'm seeing more connections between Returnal and Hyperion Cantos... I know some of it is just greek/roman mythology but I there is something there.
