Does anyone have experience with any of the games and, if so, would you recommend them? Is there anything in here that you're particularly excited to play?
Wow. I bought persona 5 royal for 30-40 bucks but honestly for that game alone this bundle would be a no-brainer
Wow. I have Persona 5 Royal on my PS4 (still need to finish it), but that alone is definitely worth the membership for anyone who hasn't played it. Even if you've played the original Persona 5, Royal adds a new character, a totally new place with stuff to do in free time, new confidants (including one returning character, but now you increase the social link actively!), and a bunch of other new features and gameplay changes/improvements.
Moving on: worth noting that My Time at Sandrock has never gone below $19.99 on Steam. According to IsThereAnyDeal, the lowest it got is 16.99 on Newegg, one time back in December 2022. Has never gone that low again, in fact the graph shows that the discounts were pretty shallow after September 2023 (presumably after the full release) and only dipped to $19.99 a few months ago. (Note: the main ITAD page mentions it also hit $13.99 on GameBillet in July 2022, but it doesn't seem to be available on that site anymore.)
I haven't played it, but I have played My Time at Portia, so Sandrock has been on my wishlist for a long time now. They follow the classic cozy formula where you're trying to revitalize a community, in this case as a builder which means a LOT of crafting. (Also, the games are in a post-apocalyptic world, but 300 years after the apocalypse so society's not a giant mess. I just find that setting concept neat!) From what I've heard Sandrock is an improvement on Portia in every way: significantly less grindy thanks to many QoL improvements to crafting and resource management (seriously, that's the biggest gripe with Portia), better character customization, and better story and characters.
Lil Gator Game has also been on my wishlist since it keeps coming up in cozy game review videos, and I only ever hear praise for it. Can't remember if I've heard of Wildmender (so many games use "Wild"), but that also looks pretty good.
So basically, looks like I'm signing up for the Humble Choice membership for the first time ever :D
Lil Gator Game was a delight. It feels similar to A Short Hike, but I (heresy warning) genuinely liked Gator better.
Itโs been a bit since I played either, so Iโve lost the details on why I felt that way, but I think itโs safe to say that if you like one, youโll probably enjoy the other.
I played through all of Tiny Terry's Turbo Trip when it first came out. Short little collectathon, a few hours tops, but very enjoyable/goofy and played perfectly on Steam Deck.
Persona 5 Royale is a really great game albeit with some massive flaws: the main one is its slow burn story blocking action. This has been resolved in Atlus's spin-off game, Metaphor Refantazio, which has much better story pacing and jumps straight into the action. That said, it's still a fantastic game and well worth purchasing this month for alone.
I don't have any experience with the other games but I'll give each a try soonโข.
cc: @kfwyre, let me know if I did it right. :P
You forgot the praise proton rider :P
Just like @cfabbro did, thank you for doing my work for me!
This month is particularly great (which is saying something). SEVEN platinums? ALL playable on the Deck?
Proton is love, and I am smitten.
Proton (and Valve as a whole) is really something else. It's wild that I can stream windows games with similar or better performance from a Linux host to the Steam Link (hardware) - which is still supported seven years after it was sunset - and play them with a controller that is not just natively unsupported, but didn't exist when they came out.
You crushed it. Thanks again!
