That's a great video! But it looks like this one has a some additional recent news. If one doesn't have the context and does have the time, it might make sense to watch Jeffiot's and then skip to this middle 20 minute section and then the last 40 mins of the one linked in this post.

YouTube reaaaaally wants me to watch this which makes me suspicious almost immediately. It presents this to play next after every video and it's almost near the top of the suggestions every time....

Is it actually that good or is the algorithm just promoting it skyhigh?

People Make Games is, in my opinion, the best independent gaming news outlet around, providing high-quality original reporting specifically on the labor conditions in the industry. This video meets their usual high bar, although if I were to criticize it I would say that the situation it's reporting on is just so messy and ambiguous and in-development that nothing here feels really conclusive or cohesive or even entirely substantiated. But maybe there's value in sitting with and not narrativizing this kind of creative struggle.

The rest is an update on certain ongoing aspects of the Disco Elysium drama, mostly from the perspective of 2 parties. I'm not really well versed enough on the whole drama to poke holes or substantiate the video's presentation, but they seem to try and do their homework, and if you have any interest in the topic it's an easy watch. In terms of the drama itself, there isn't really any big resolution available to walk away with, though.

That is fully a Youtube algorithm thing and not a channel-specific thing. I've been following them for a long time and am subscribed, but I didn't realize their new video was out until seeing someone else talk about it 🤷‍♂️ Fwiw, I fully recommend their channel and am still bitter they lost Content Creator of the Year at The Game Awards.
