For those that aren't familiar, here's what happened: A few years back, they added a new point of interest underground called the Ancient City in the base game. It had a big mysterious structure that everyone instantly thought was a portal (which is actually called a portal in the files). There was a lot of speculation in the community that it'll be possible to activate this portal in the future and we'll get a new dimension in Minecraft for the first time in 15 years. Then Mojang showed the portal being activated as the initial teaser for Dungeons 2, now they're showing footage of a new dimension here. We know from an official tie in kid's book that this new dimension is, in fact, the one that the Ancient City portal leads to. That means a several year's long teaser in the base game, that everyone had long assumed was going to be one of the biggest updates we've had in decades, has led to... a sequel to a spinoff game.
Will "The Sift" ever come to the base game? Well, we have no idea! The existing Minecraft spinoffs each have a lot of content that never came over. If it doesn't, this whole thing is in particularly poor taste. If it does, it's a somewhat weird strategy to reveal such a big expansion to the base game this way, isn't it?

While not as popular as they once were, I think Diablo-like ARPGs have a pretty broad appeal, and I think many kids and people who like Minecraft as a brand but who may not have been exposed to ARPGs will get hooked by it when they try it out. I didn't stick with the first one very long but it seemed enjoyable enough, and would maybe have been more so if I hadn't played so many other ARPGs before it.
My previous comment when the first trailer released 5 months ago It looks more like Minecraft Dungeons 1.5, but if they improved the shortcomings of the previous game I'll be ok with this. I'm...
It looks more like Minecraft Dungeons 1.5, but if they improved the shortcomings of the previous game I'll be ok with this. I'm probably not buying it for full price at release though (even though it's quite high on my wishlist). I'm also skeptical for the og Switch version: Minecraft Dungeons was already a 30fps game, and for an ARPG that's not ideal.
I picked up Minecraft Dungeons on the cheap a few years ago, and this really feels like they just decided to desupport that and shoot for a new release. And given the horror that is Bedrock's...

And given the horror that is Bedrock's microtransaction hell, I have 0 doubts that MCD2 will be that or worse.
I played the arcade game that would spit out cards that you could play with that gear later. Cool, but also a terrifying sign of what is to come.
