Edit to add: new Control, Dust: Origins, Mega Man Dual Override

Witcher 3's Remaster including not just visual enhancements (game is already gorgeous anyway) but also revamps to movement, combat, etc. is exciting. It's such a massive game that I never completed a playthrough. I just fell out of it after a certain point and never got back into it. Combat and movement were always very weak points for me, though I really enjoyed the story and everything else. Maybe I'll eventually get back into it someday. Edit: also the remaster appears to be a FREE update for existing owners which is huge!

Love the idea of Guitar Hero having a spiritual successor in Stage Tour

Crazy Taxi could be cool, not sure. I remember the Dreamcast version and I just don't know if anything will recapture that

LEGO Skylines is cool. Seems like a great fit for the crossover. I enjoyed the first Cities Skylines, didn't bother with the second one. I am fond of early Sim City titles (not the drop-off post EA acquisition) and think this could be a neat idea/aesthetic/etc for a city sim. Will all depend on how it turns out. I know there was a big mess with the second one. I haven't looked into it deeply enough to have it put my expectations in any particular position, just thought the idea overall was neat.

Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake seems like it could be neat too.

Sometimes it's cool to see older games reimagined in a different way. I think we're in a bit of "remake/remaster/sequel" hell in terms of the business side of game development atm, and I don't think it's always a good idea for devs to pursue. But sometimes it can be fun, well-done, and work out as a quality new take on a classic franchise. Though all that said, I am trying to not take nearly as much nostalgia bait anymore, so we'll see. Nostalgia-baiting really has to be able to cash the checks it's writing for me to care (and also not massively retcon/change a game in the process).

complaining about gamer culture / comments Made the mistake of not having comments turned off (via an extension) when I went to some of the trailers. I really hate the brainrot / mind virus that causes "gamers" to scream "woke!" the moment they see a woman somewhere on-screen in a game, or even worse, the moment they see a subtitle with a purple box behind it. No joke- it has gotten this bad. I've seen comments/posts like "this purple background/graphic worries me, this is probably woke!". I hate this timeline.

Yeah, after the Gamescom presentation CD Projekt also upgraded the W3 base game to the complete edition with both DLCs for free. That's pretty generous.

My only concern was that the art went from looking really distinct in the original to now looking like a generic fantasy phone game. At least the cover/title art just looked off, but I didn't...

I'll probably still snag it, HoMM3 is in that category of games that doesn't work well on modern hardware because of missing libraries or other odd technical issues. It will be nice to have a version that just works for once.

VCMI It's an open source reimplementation of HoMM3, it works great and has a massive list of mods and expansions that work. I mostly play it on my Android tablet and it works very well using touch.

That Ontos trailer looked amazing. I was probably already sold, but seems like the right level of creepy. I'm sure it won't be as good as SOMA, but if it gets close then fantastic.

Of all the announcements, only 2 caught my eyes: Witcher 3: Songs of the Past DLC: I loved Witcher 3 and its DLC back in the day. Acornia: Mirror Worlds: from the devs of TinyKin, it kinda looks...

Of all the announcements, only 2 caught my eyes:

I liked the trailer for Lofsöng. An indie puzzler with a nice brutalist style.

I am in the US, but actually think there was a lot of great announcements regardless of platform. I don’t personally play many games anymore . Mostly with my older kids (golf). Or with my niece...

I am in the US, but actually think there was a lot of great announcements regardless of platform. I don’t personally play many games anymore . Mostly with my older kids (golf). Or with my niece and nephew (younger). But it seems like Gamescom had something for all age groups and all different types of gamers. Stage Tour, Witcher, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, COD, EA FC, FFVIIR part 3, indies, Minecraft Dungeons 2, etc. Seems very diverse. Which is great. A little something for everyone.
