What I really want from Mass Effect is to do other kinds of games within the universe. I've seen and come up with a lot of good ideas. Where's my Commander Bailey detective game? Or my First Contact War RTS? Maybe GTA: Omega? I'm sure there's even space for a planet colonization sim, and an RPG centered on interplanetary trade too.
There's just so much they can do to further flesh out the universe and make great games without feeling like they have to live in the shadow of the OT.
Talking about ME I stopped playing after the first 3 installment (no DLC whatsoever). What should I play to catch up with the franchise? Is it worth it to? I'm gonna replay the first three anyway...

I'm gonna replay the first three anyway probably as I don't quite remember them anymore so feel free to also suggest "must have" DLC.
Honestly, I would get all the DLC for the original trilogy, minus the cosmetic stuff. There is some hokey stuff but most if not all of it adds to the story or fun. I never touched Andromeda so I...

I never touched Andromeda so I cant speak for that one.
ME Andromeda is fun. There were some issues with facial animation when it rolled out but they've fixed those issues. However it is unfinished in the sense that it was clearly meant to have DLC...

However it is unfinished in the sense that it was clearly meant to have DLC which never came out. It probably will not effect the cannon of future stories. I'd say it's worth $20 but not $45 (not sure what they're selling it for now).

The people who made the original ones aren't there anymore and I don't want EA to drag this series even more though the mud.
It makes no sense from a business standpoint to say that a franchise is dead. They never explicitly say something like that. I'm not saying they're lying but I wouldn't hold my breath.

...despite their best efforts.
management's best efforts*
I'm sure the developers and creative directors aren't happy about what's happened

My god I would play the hell out of a colonization sim. And murder the hell out of people in GTA:Omega.

I picked ME:A up for something like £6 in a Sony Store sale a few weeks back. Finally started playing this week and I'd say it's definitely worth £6.

Good? But it's EA, so...
