Given that their stated plan is essentially to continue to double down on core franchises, I wouldn't be too hopeful that this means they're taking their time with something big.

WC3 reforged too! Both instances of milking really old games... not a great sign. I mean don't get me wrong, I'm psyched for WC3, but arguably that's the problem. Blizzard doesn't seem to have...

I mean, same thing with WC3 reforged. All the assets have to be rebuilt to modern standards. Just because it's effort doesn't mean it's an original idea.

I know a lot of people are upset about what’s happening at blizzard but honestly i don’t think this is all necessarily negative. The company seems to be putting itself through a rebuilding process, i assume, to stay competitive in the long run. Only time will tell, however I don’t think this is a reason to be pessimistic or give up on blizzard.
I take this as a really positive thing. Instead of releasing a slightly better game every year, they're going to come up with new ideas and solid games. I'd much rather have an original game...

Activision Blizzard had stated that their strategy will be to fall back on their franchises even more. While that doesn't necessarily mean there's nothing coming and it's also plenty possible that innovation can still happen with existing IP like what happened with Hearthstone, there's really no reason to think they'll be doing something new and risky.
