The main village we're talking about is about half a minute southwest of the point where you first start in the game. Keep walking till you get to the edge of the woods, and you can't miss it. Feel free to type /s hello into the chat when you first join. This will "shout" into the game world, so that (I believe) everyone who is online can see your chat, and help you out if you need it.
In case it isn't obvious, it's also basic etiquette not to just randomly take objects from other people's houses unless they're clearly marked with signage that they're free to take. And please keep the village gates closed after you use them, as this prevents monsters from just wandering in and wrecking things.

I've linked the info for the community server, thanks again to @Icarus for providing this.
I just wanted to announce that I expanded the main town's walls to accommodate more people, so far only a small handful have joined in since beforehand the walls were very snug. Hopefully it's more inviting now.
Don't worry about all the workbenches scattered around, if they are in your way you may remove them and build there. They are there to prevent mobs from spawning inside the town but we can relocate them once you've moved into the space.
There should be room for 4-6 more people depending on the size of the building you want to build, with access to the shore for personal boats. Feel free to do some light terraforming to make accommodations but be aware this will affect the FPS pretty badly at some point, hopefully to be rectified in future updates.
Hope to see more people on the server, I'm having a blast personally.
Thank you all for keeping it going! Sorry, my attention is all over the place so I haven't been joining all too often. I have been making backups of the server though in case an update comes along...

Are there any general goals that are being worked on that I can contribute to when I do hop on? I have basically just been messing around and wandering aimlessly when I login.

The village really has a lot of tech in it by now. If anything needs "community service", I suppose here are a few things that could be done:
ensure fence doesn't have any gaps or sections in disrepair
add a watchtower or elevated platform next to one of the gates, similar to what's found outside Folkvardr's house
chop wood, then make wood piles (crafted from 50 wood units) in some central spot (maybe near the bonfire?), and add a sign that they're free to take
add (donate) wood to campfires, resin to standing torches
Second. First thing I do when I login is refill everyone’s fires and torches so they hopefully don’t come to a dark home. What would be nice is someone building a centralized communal storage shed...

What would be nice is someone building a centralized communal storage shed for wood so it doesn’t get damaged by rain.
Also, defensive staking of the outer walls would also be welcome to deter monsters. Takes a lot of wood and core wood.
My Valheim group kind of petered out and my friend shut down his server, so I will likely be joining you all a bit more frequently now. Kudos for the effort, and I can't wait to see what you've...

I joined the server and had a peak around - there are lots of amazing looking buildings. I'm going to concentrate a bit more time into my own character before I join again; I'm still pretty early,...

Take it as slow as you want, some people want to avoid crafting spoilers and that's probably best done solo. If you don't care about that I, and a few others, would be more than happy sharing...

Thanks! I did unlock a number of recipes, which is actually sort of helpful; gives me something to work towards. I already had a plan that I'm working on - I'm acquiring bronze armor right now,...

I already had a plan that I'm working on - I'm acquiring bronze armor right now, but mostly been kiting and killing trolls for fun - and when I get a bit farther along, I'll join again and create something.

The village looks pretty amazing!
