Would you be interested in a Tildes community Valheim server?
So there is this game called Valheim that recently released. You may or may not have recently read the article where they claim to have sold over a million copies around a week after release.
I bought it to give it the 2-hour smell test and it seems pretty darn good. However, this game seems best played with others and I doubt my friend group will end up playing this. Renting a server seems pretty cheap so I was wondering how interested you would be in a Tildes community server? I would be down for paying for a month and seeing where it goes from there.
It looks like min slots for a server would be 10 slots but I would imagine that's okay since we all wouldn't be in the same time zone. I can scale this up if the demand is there.
Thoughts?

What is Valheim, the Viking game blowing up on Steam?
Server is set up!
Add and join the server by following these instructions with the game closed.
For all Vikings, who can't find their server ingame - a short workaround on how to make it visible:
- Go to steam and click on view at top menu, navigate to servers and select the favorite tab.
- Now click on the "add server" Button and enter:
173.237.15.68:28701
- Refresh your server with the refresh button and there you go, you can now join your server with a double click on the server's name.
Need more help? You can find a video tutorial here.
Game is password protected but if you click me, you will find what you need.
The server is set up: @Fal @krg @cfabbro @kilroy
Sadly the game doesn't have a very good server browser but you can find instructions on how to connect in the main post. Let me know if you experience any problems.
Server up today?
Yep!
Details on how to join should be in the main post. Let me know if you run into any issues joining.
I just bought it yesterday to play with some friends this weekend, but I would be down to play on a Tildes community server occasionally too. Especially since your character is supposedly persistent, which makes it easier to switch between servers, as you don't need to start from scratch every time.
p.s. Joined. I'm Nubs in game. :)
Bought it yesterday and playing with friends tomorrow, but would be interested in hopping in sometimes.
Hmm… I’m down. I need another time-sink in my life!
Feel free to add me on Steam.
This game does look like something I'd be interested in. However, it's not on sale, and I'm such a cheapskate when it comes to buying games that I only buy at full price if I'm absolutely sure I want a game (such as with previous Battlefield titles). That said, I guess the current price is reasonable, being less than half the cost of a triple A title.
I'll wait a day or two to see whether you all are still enjoying things and playing together, and I'll buy it if I have reasonable assurance of finding an active server with friendly players to PvE with.
Worth bearing in mind that the game came out only 10 days ago. I wouldn't expect a sale for a while.
I'd actually expect the price to rise once it leaves early access.
Noticing the graphics style, I'm once again struck by how funny it is that we spent like 15 years (1995-2010 or so) obsessing over getting good texture filtering in games, and now we just drop the whole idea because unfiltered (pixel-y) textures look nice and/or are nostalgic.
It's got that mid 2000s look where old games kinda started to look good but not good enough to reach the graphics plateau we're on now. I think it's got that Marrowind or Oblivion energy people are now nostalgic for.
Oh dang! I might have to check it out. Thanks for doing this!
Never heard of this, but it instantly looks interesting to me. I'll give it a shot tonight. Should be on around 8pm EST. Feel free to friend me on steam -- https://steamcommunity.com/id/toxicityj
Edit: my in-game name is Kilrog
I might buy the game tomorrow and if there’s room on the server I’ll check it out. Is this more Minecraft than Rust? I ain’t got time to get enslaved by some assholes or have them wreck our fort every day.
While we’re on the subject does anyone on Tildes play Valorant or CSGO? Monster Hunter World?
Played it for a few hours tonight with some friends. It's definitely way more Minecraft than Rust. It's mostly about PvE, exploring, harvesting resources, and building stuff. PvP is entirely optional and consensual. You can't be damaged by other players in any game you join unless you enable it yourself by clicking the PvP icon in your inventory screen.
Spent about 6 hours building a house in the server lol. Seems pretty chill.
I would be up for playing. I got the game and it is a lot of fun. You can friend me on steam -https://steamcommunity.com/id/floweringmind
