I’ve had a sick kid at home this week while my husband works away so no running for me. My race is next week so I’m a little antsy about not getting my runs in this week, but hopefully it’ll be ok. Not expecting a PB for the race because it starts at 6am so I know that’ll slow me down!

I’ve carried on with Caroline Girvans Epic I series though, and seeing big improvements! I’ve upped my weights twice now, at 5 weeks in!

Congrats on upping your weights! That's a hard battle to fight, and the Epic 1 series seems pretty intense!

Thank you! A couple of weeks ago I managed 10K in under an hour which was my goal for the race, but the next week I went for my long run at 6am and I was about 0.30s/km slower! So I’ll be happy if I do it in 1:05 I think

It’s such a great program and I think it’s helped my running a lot! I’d recommend it if you were ever looking to add some cross training (I skip the HIIT days though, I do enough cardio already)

Yeah, apparently the only way to learn to run early is to run early :/ my marathon is Saturday and it's a time zone ahead of me, so I'm already used to running at 6:30 in my time zone but I need to get my body used to waking up significantly earlier so that I can actually get to the race and be ready in time. Of course, I found out after my last long run (yesterday) that my marathon shoes need to be broken in more than I have already done, so I guess I'll be running in those this week.

As to your race, just remember to run strong and do not start the race too fast. You know how to do what you need to do, now it's time to do it!

Ain’t it always the way?! I’ve done a couple of early morning runs to try and prep; hoping race day adrenaline gets me the rest of the way! (But: noted about not starting too fast. That’s definitely something I struggle with)

GOOD LUCK for your marathon!!! Such an impressive achievement. Hope you make a post about it after and let us know how it went!

Lol I'll certainly comment in here if I see the post! My time won't be particularly impressive and I usually don't have anything interesting to say after I run. I've read some race reports for single marathons that have more than I could write about all of my runs this entire year put together.

Since you're already killing it, doing a half should be relatively easy. You just have to slowly work up over a few weeks. I bet you could already run a half, although it may not be a great experience yet. I'm sure you could do at least a slow 10-miler no problem. Once you've done that, you're almost there. It was pretty daunting for me when I first started running more than 10 miles, but these days, 10 miles feels like an easy Saturday morning for me. It was really shocking how quickly I surpassed what sounded like a huge challenge. Having a vetted training plan to stick to definitely helped.

I think what puts me off is that I’m already a bit bored of the running routes near me. Perhaps I need to explore a bit! I definitely think that after a certain point the training is much more mental than physical. Which plan did you use?

For me, it's essentially all been mental. I can't really think of a way that any physical challenge isn't minor compared to the corresponding mental challenge.

I'm on week 7 of C25k and ran without stopping for 25 minutes! Definitely pushed myself to get a faster second mile, I'm looking forward to this week as they're all continuous runs. There's a 5k my city is doing towards the end of September I might aim to do.

Hooray, go you!! That’s such an achievement! Book in for the 5k, what’s the worst that can happen? If you can’t run the whole thing you’ll walk some, no biggie. But you might surprise yourself :)

There you go! Running isn't about going fast, it's about going the speed you want and need to go, and it's never wrong to slow down. Your time is your own and it's not a reflection of success or failure; it's just a reflection of how quickly you moved a certain distance on a certain day.

Thank you!! You are 1000% correct, I definitely have some thought processes I'm unlearning. The important thing is that I'm up and I'm moving :D

Met up with my new lifting coach. Feeling positive about the chemistry and his philosophies. I start the first week of our plan tomorrow. It's a pretty low tonnage week which is a responsible way to start while we sus out my workload and stress index response. I took this weekend a bit easy to make sure we have a good baseline reading.

Signed up for my state championships in February, so we have about 5.5 months to build. My goal is to total about 585/1290ish, that's conservative because we're such a long way out, I think 1300 is in the cards. Last year that would've been a comfortable second place. Definitely excited to put an official 145/319 in on bench.

I've just renewed my intermittent fasting commitment with a new mobile app, called Simple. I'd been using Fasting Tracker, which worked well enough for my first, longest effort at IF last year. I've found that it's easy enough to stay on my fasting schedule, provided that I don't experience a relapse of depression.

Like the old app, the new app provides for recording daily data entry of my fasting related measurements, but introduces a series of daily tasks to check off. There's also a AI chatbot integration called Avo which can provide alternative meal suggestions and other answers to other questions. I haven't decided how much to rely on that yet -- the responses I've gotten sound plausible but I don't know how the developers confirm the quality of its "knowledge".

Simple's task list invited me to join their Facebook group, but as I won't use Facebook I decided that I'd report here.
