    What a bunch of clowns.

If Texas wants the providers to take the risk and get the double risk of either being sued or prosecuted... they're going to find they have a lot less doctors even willing to practice there. I...

I mean if I were a doctor I'd either leave Texas or refuse to do anything regarding birth with that hanging over my head.

Oh don't worry. Texas passed tort "reform" so laywers don't really take medical malpractice cases.

Appeals to rationality or emotion don't work on cruel zealots who have neither.

No, but the die hard zealots are a minority and it is becoming increasingly obvious to people who might not have been paying attention that these zealots hate women and are indifferent to their medical needs for reasons. Swing voters are key.

One might look at Gandhi's tactics, or the struggle against apartheid in South Africa. Publicizing outrageous abuses can be effective if it reaches the right audience.

Edit, another historical example might be the book Uncle Tom's Cabin and its role promoting the abolition movement.

I suppose I just have little faith that this would be a tipping point for anyone who regularly or periodically votes GOP. I believe there's already a severe apathy or deficiency that precludes empathetic thinking. Their stories should be shared, but I don't see it moving the needle. I hope I'm wrong though.

I didn't read this article, but I listened to to a piece on NPR today about it today. Listening to the testimony of some of these women was soul crushing. Even as a woman I can not imagine what it would be like to endure this sort of violence - and that's what I think it is, violence against women. I don't even know what to do with how I feel after having listened to them. I did not want to listen to them, I could feel my heart sinking and aching as they spoke, but I believe they deserve to be heard.
