This is a great step forward. I'd also like to see things covered like "Your rights as a tenant," or even better: An entry-level law class that teaches the basics of how to figure out all of the rights you have.

I don't necessarily disagree with you although people who design curriculum are juggling priorities and trying to deal with staff budgets and available classroom hours and competing requirements from leadership and government and coordinating with universities to prepare some students to attend. I would love to see classes in cooking and budgeting and wood shop and civics and etc. Also nutrition and fitness.

In California, there are public county law libraries in every county, used by self represented people and small scale attorneys that can't afford subscriptions for legal research.

Nolo press is a great resource publishing books about the general outlines and trends of various areas of law that impact individuals and small business.

Almost anyone could take an intro to legal research class through a community college and there are probably podasts and youtube videos or lectures through services like coursera online.

I was lucky to get educated on my power as a worker as well - by my university and by various recruitment agencies that were financially motivated to place me in a job. More people should be taught these skills. They’ve saved me thousands on rent, paid out tens of thousands over the last few years through negotiated pay, and should only compound with time.

Not everyone has the same job market demand, but since the pandemic workers have been gaining power. Even McDonald’s workers are getting signing bonuses. High Schools could at least have a “job skills” elective that teaches you how to find the best jobs and get employers to compete against each other for your labor.
