I actually started not carrying a phone 80% of days a few weeks ago. Someone on Tildes recommended an Apple Watch for this purpose - although I'm sure they use it as their only device less frequently. It helps a lot that almost everyone I want to contact primarily uses RCS/iMessage.
I didn't start out glued to TikTok or anything. Mostly I use YouTube/Tildes/HN/Discord to fill time. And I don't watch much YouTube while outside and the other 3 are slow moving. But that starting point made it easier to go one step further.

One thing I've learned that I really like about having a smart watch with LTE built-in is that I can take more phone-free trips while still having the safety benefit of being able to make an emergency call if necessary. Best of both worlds in a lot of ways. Less to carry, fewer distractions, but if the need is genuinely there, I'm not stuck.
That’s what I do. It’s not supported on all carriers. And usually it’s an extra fee to add the watch to your plan. I use Visible (not a sponsor :P) for my phone and watch it’s $39/month unlimited...

Out of curiosity do your watch and phone share a phone number? I might be interested in this.
