This is old, but I learned about it today and it warmed my heart. What happens when a nursing home and a day care center share a roof?

I have to imagine the old people start getting a lot of colds. But it sounds nice, nonetheless.

Some of the illnesses kids bear around are damn near lethal for healthy adults, let alone the elderly. I've never been as sick in my life as I was when my daughter gave me some mystery virus.

That's really beautiful. I don't have kids, but if I live long enough to end up in a nursing home having kids around is exactly what I'd hope for.

Parents are busy running the house, and once the elderly are in homes it is difficult for family to visit often.

When you get older, lack of socialization increases the likelihood of dementia. Plus I would imagine the rate of depression is much lower in an environment like this.

As for the kids, they get interaction with adults who actually want to do the things they’re interested in, and they have the time to really make them feel validated and special.

pls, when I am old- send me to this place. I would die happy.

Same. I've worked my whole life with kids. Let me grow old around them. People bring up diseases. Let that be why I go, rather than losing my mind or spirit. All my grandparents regretted living...

I wouldn't mind living to 200 in a decent body, with a sharp mind and intact memories, and with friends and family. Living to 90 in a declining body with a mind that you know is feebler every week, and losing friends and family, everyone you hold dear? No thanks for me.

I don't like to infantilize the elderly, so it is possible that some of them traumatized their kids in ways that don't always come to light.

So yes, awesome idea, but make sure there's supervision.
