Tildes Video Thread
So, I know quite a few people don't like/watch video content, and don't like seeing the homepage filled with videos. I'd like to try something new, see if it sticks.
What are the best videos you have watched this past week?
As you might have noticed from my recent submissions, I have picked up Skip Intro's channel once more, and have been working my way through his Copaganda series. The series discusses the relationships between the US, the Police, and TV shows. It's a VERY good series.
I'm currently watching the episode on The Shield, which inspired me to make this thread: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlpHGi7wUu4
Cracking the Cryptic has showed up on my feed again, but this time, Simon solves a Cryptic Crossword. Loving it.
Return to Monkey Island has recently released. Day9 is playing it with Sean Bouchard and Leigh Graner on Mostly Walking. It's an absolutely hilarious game and I'm loving the playthrough. Leigh Graner actually worked on the game!
And still in video games, Dan is playing Beacon Pines on Playframe. What a gorgeous, super interesting game. It's a choose-your-own-adventure book. Really cool.
Hoog talks about the american lawn.
And finally, Not Just Bikes talks about how Toronto got addicted to cars. Featuring: Shitty politicians.
I've been working my way through Knowing Better's backlog, and quite enjoyed A Veterans' Warning | Smedley Butler.
Some More New's inflation video was quite entertaining and insightful.

Available for free for anyone with an Apple login. The season 2 premier of Stewart's new show is available, and has come out of the gate swinging compared to a rather unremarkable season 1.
Have you seen this thread and video? https://tildes.net/~tv/12sb/what_happened_to_jon_stewart_a_retrospective
I'm curious to get your opinion on it.
Haven't seen the video, but if you want the hot take, Jon Stewart is probably a Seinfeld of late night in that everything he added to the formula, his successors did better, but back then, the idea of making a political debrief comedy show was novel and he made the template on how to do it, and the Daily Show talent bench ran deep enough that a number of the spin off shows did it better. The Problem has the disadvantages of being a new show, that runs in the same lane as Last Week Tonight, and has to deal with the Halo effect of the Daily Show on top of that, and so far, it's okay.
I think you'll like the video / find it interesting :) But yes that's pretty close to one of the cores of the argument.
Scruffy's What I Love playlist is really good. His videos are all incredibly high effort and discuss interesting topics regarding sound design and game scoring.
This video about Richard Batterham, independent potter, is one of my favourite things. It's 30 minutes, and it's just him talking about his process. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tN3hRRIO4-c ("They think they can then inject the art at the end, whereas actually any art that may be involved comes through the whole business, and if you just try to inject something on the end, it doesn't really work".)
This video about Anne Mette Hjortshøj called "Paying Honest Attention" is again slow and meditative. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgumkcojbOM "It's a lot about seeing, I think. Some things don't catch your interest, but then something does and you just get deeper and deeper into it. And all of a sudden you see it."
Ceramic Review magazine has a few other similar videos. Here's another one I like (because he's quite near to where I live): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tzHEEKwuKQs
The French channel Ateliers d'Art de France has a bunch of interesting video of artist crafts people. https://www.youtube.com/user/AteliersdArtdeFrance
Framing Floors and Stairs, by Larry Haun

Even if you don't plan to build your own home, it's a lot of fun to watch a master at work. This and all other videos with Larry Haun are fantastic. The guy was an amazing carpenter and great at communicating about the important details of what he's doing.
