It's good someone is shedding light on the insides of this monster. It's also good that the monster has such gullible actors inside to spill the beans. Hiding it from the public on purpose.. hm,...

Hiding it from the public on purpose.. hm, why would they want to do that? Also, I love how he revealed how Trump is only claiming to not know but actually supports them.

This video needs to be made into a commercial/ad.

Do not get complacent yet. Absolutely vote blue to stop this, and tell everyone you know about the reds' plan.

While at one level, yes to this; at another level we also need to recognize the false choice we are constantly being deceived by: that we only get 2 choices and that any 3rd choice is a betrayal....

While at one level, yes to this; at another level we also need to recognize the false choice we are constantly being deceived by: that we only get 2 choices and that any 3rd choice is a betrayal. We all need to be pushing for Ranked Choice Voting at every chance we get, at every level of and type of election we have available. It allows for the election of more center-leaning, moderate candidates instead of extreme right or extreme left.

The current state of affairs that locks us into an all-in A or B choice is a HUGE part of what keeps screwing us over.

Now if you want ranked choice you're not going to get it by voting for Republicans, it's been made illegal in conservative 10 leaning states .

You might have known all this but I feel like it's too important to leave out of a comment about ranked choice.

This is currently true, and plenty of politicians are invested in keeping the status quo as-is since they know how to work in that system. I'm not advocating for voting 3rd party in this election....

I'm not advocating for voting 3rd party in this election. I'm advocating for keeping RCV in mind AFTER this election and pushing for it at every opportunity so that the NEXT election cycle, or the one after that, allows us to more fully exercise our rights of choice in said election and not be constrained by a system that is currently engineered to force a choice between only 2 options.

One thing slightly related: Trump is (usually) a very useful lightning rod that keeps attention off all the other ways our rights are being taken away. It's like a magic trick. Trump does some ridiculous thing, and tons of people make memes and laugh about it while behind the curtain this 2025 stuff is happening. I wish people would stay a little more informed and notice how much other elections and courts matter.

Very true. The smaller, more local elections are the ones we have far more personal power to influence and they do also matter.

Maybe combine that with an extremely small campaign donation and the explicit statement: I am willing to spend my time, commit my vote, and open my wallet over this issue. The small donation enclosed is negligible itself, but represents my willingness to contribute - to representatives who are willing to pursue this issue and push for it to become law. Support this issue, and you will have my support.

Something along those lines, and maybe posting about doing that online to get others to do the same to show even jaded politicians that the things they care about and need (money and votes) are on the table over this.

That's a pretty good idea, also, thanks! My income is fortunately flexible enough to allow that part, also. I will probably add one more sentence to the end of that suggested section of the letter. "Support this issue, and you will have my support. I will be watching your voting and proposal records to see where you stand on this issue."

Maybe sounds a bit aggressive? But I think it's fair and not too aggressive.

"I will be watching your actions" is creepy in a love letter but reasonable in a letter to a politician. They can often trust that their constituents aren't really paying attention, which lets them get away with the things that make Congress have low approval ratings and individual members have high approval ratings.

The idea behind it? Not too aggressive. Could there be better wording to communicate 'this issue is important to me and I will be watching how you act (or fail to act) as this will decide my vote and who I give campaign money to' - I think so. Trying to figure out the best wording here. What you already have with 'voting and proposal records' is nicely specific and should probably be a keep. Hmm.

Maybe "I will be watching your voting and proposal records to see where you stand on this issue as this will decide if I vote for you and invest further (and more significant) contributions to your future campaigns."

That wording may be longer / more clunky? But it takes away the 'potentially creepy/threatening' vibe by being specific about what you will do based on what you observe instead of leaving things vague. It's the vagueness that is often associated with deniable threats and makes it sound weird.

Maybe instead of using the word "watching" you could say "paying attention to"

It's important for everyone to know this stuff and it needs to be on everyone's mind before they vote for a republican.

One thing that slightly disappoints me about the video is that it tries to add drama with ominous music and flickery segment titles. This is like you see on true crime dramas or overproduced shows like Inside Edition. It makes me somewhat less inclined to share it because it seems hokey and manipulative.

Oh I know! I really wish they would have just released the entire uncut interview(s) in a long format video. I winced a little on the inside when I realized that this is the primary source and it's all I can share. It honestly feels kind of like a political ad to me in terms of its vibe, and there's a part of my brain that automatically wants to tune it out and regard it as mostly bullshit because of that.

George Floyd obviously was not about race, it was about destabilising the Trump administration.

Just... wow. I'm not sure what's more scary, him actually believing that or just telling a bare faced lie. I gotta say, props to the journalists for not flipping out every single second given what's been said.

Horrifying. There are not many other words that do this situation justice.

Also, I find it extremely ironic that this dude's last name is Vought, spelled exactly the same way as in The Boys.
