I know the fact Avatar 5 being released in 2031 depends on 3 and 4 doing well at the box office - but damn I can't get excited about 8 more years of Avatar at all.

Considering the last two avatars made over two billion dollars I think it’s guaranteed 3 and 4 will be successful

I think so too, probably. But it probably helped that it’d been over a decade between the first and the second. I wonder if them being closer together is going to make people less interested. I...

I say this as someone who is excited for the upcoming Avatar films (and the upcoming game from Ubisoft).

I definitely agree that the spectacle is a huge part of it, but I think they're also just plain well made movies. The big action set piece at the end of the last movie was my favorite out of Hollywood in a long time — maybe since the last Mad Max?

Sure they're a little silly (in the way most blockbusters and all Cameron movie are), but I think the filmmaking stands above all but a few of its peers. I think audiences still notice that stuff.

However, when I saw your comment, it took me a second of thinking to remember that sequence and what actually happens in it, while all the water-focused scenes are still vividly in my mind when I think about the movie.

I wonder if these MCU moves are because they're in panic since Phase 4 hasn't performed well or some new is coming about the future of Jonathan Majors. Also a shame that Zazie Beetz won't be in...

Has there ever been a movie release date announced on a specific date so far in the future? James Cameron will be 77 years old in 2031. I wonder how much involvement he'll have by that point.

    “Avatar 3” has shifted to Dec. 19, 2025; “Avatar 4” to Dec. 21, 2029, and “Avatar 5” to Dec. 19, 2031

Everything I've seen from Cameron makes me think that he'll be directing and finding new ways to spend money in cinematic spectacles, until his heart gives out, lol. If there has, I don't know...

If there has, I don't know about it. December 2031 is 8.5 years away!

Avatar 3 not releasing until 2025 when it's been finished already is kind of ridiculous.

I'm really hoping they're finally taking their time with Star Wars and Marvel. Probably not the case, but as a fan who went to the midnight release of Endgame, and every single sequel trilogy movie, I've been super disappointed by the Star Wars movies (Andor was great tho) and all of the Marvel movies in the last 12 months besides Guardians of the Galaxy 3.
