The same continuity, but in the past? I don’t really see how that works. The shin Godzilla movie was a world where Godzilla was an unknown creature at the time. So I don’t really see how they could make one set years before shin Godzilla, and still have shin Godzilla makes sense.
On top of that. The ending of Shin Godzilla was a very compelling sting for a potential sequel. I’m a little bit disappointed that they would make another Shin Godzilla movie, but not continue where the other one ended.
with that being said, most of the main Godzilla movies are a commentary on society. Shin Godzilla was a commentary on how slow the Japanese government is at responding to natural disasters. So I’m curious what this one’s going to be a commentary on.
Oh man, oh man. Godzilla in the same tone as the original in 1954, in the aftermath of the atomic bomb, after Oppenheimer comes out on the 21st (USA), and by Toho??? I'm so excited!!

Set in the aftermath of WWII, this will be in the same continuity as 2016's Shin Godzilla.
