I haven’t seen Zone of Interest as it’s barely being made available to me this weekend. But I’d go:
Oppenheimer
Killers of the Flower Moon
Past Lives
Poor Things
The Holdovers
Maestro
Anatomy of a Fall
Barbie
American Fiction
American Fiction is easily the weakest nominee this year. It’s got weird pacing issues and feels rough all around.

This is a real thing ive noticed happening to me. Used to be I'd have seen most of them. But now adays I'm lucky if I've even heard of half the movies on the best picture list.

I can't speak for you but I'm definitely getting old. And more fragile. I have heard of Oppenheimer and Killers of the Flower Moon but actively avoided watching them. I am excited about Poor...

I wouldn’t generally recommend Poor Things to everyone in the same way. It’s not bad, and it’s probably even good, but it’s not a general audience kind of thing. Unfortunately, I think I’m probably in the group that I wouldn’t recommend it too.
Even so, it was very imaginative, had lots of humor, certainly elicits a variety of emotions throughout. It is a coming of age story, as you say.
Not really a spoiler but maybe it is, I dunno
In the end, I’m not sure any of the characters are better than when they started, though.

I don’t think it’s a getting old thing.
The books meant to be pretty great as well. Its been a while since I read Lanark but Alasdair Gray is a great author.
