    Dear Hollywood:

It's the kids, stupid. You'll notice that The Fall Guy was out-grossed by The Garfield Movie, with a whopping 38% on Rotten Tomatoes. And Inside Out 2 shattered records.

You want me back in the theaters on the regular? Give me more than 0-2 G and PG options to take my kids to every month. It'd be great for those rainy days, but the options just aren't there.

Theater owners, more $3 matinees of older kids movies please and thank you. The $12 in tickets will handily be offset by another $30 in food.

    Thanks,

A very frustrated Dad who can maybe find 1 2-kid pleasing movie every 9 months.

Additionally the sheer cost of theater attendance is overwhelming. One visit for my family of 5 would come out to nearly $100 between tickets and food/drinks. Meanwhile, I can just be patient and watch the movie in the comfort of my own home, with my own snacks and drinks, and my own pillows and blankets.

What are theaters really offering these days anyways?

Jokes aside, there are a few cinemas that still deliver great experiences - but the average chain cinema can just go die already, I don't see why I would ever want to go to one again.

One of the primary motivators for me has always been that it's "something to do". But with everything being so expensive, there are fewer and fewer reasonable options of things to just "go do"...
