Sinners is currently my favorite film I've seen this year and I went to it twice in Imax. I hope it wins some awards as I think it really deserves a lot of them.

Truly impressive, Coogler is now one of those filmmakers that can draw audiences like Quentin Tarantino or Christopher Nolan. This is essentially his Inception.

It's another nail in the coffin for the belief that opening weekend is everything. More and more films are opening relatively small but keeping their audiences for weeks afterwards.
While I usually don't care for Oscars, I do hope Sinners wins all that it gets nominated for. I hadn't heard of it before I saw it in cinemas, but it's genuinely one of the best films I've seen....

As far as the movie itself, it was really, really good. It has a lot to say, but also it has that Cabin in the Woods vibe where you're going to have a different experience when you watch it again with more context. I don't know if we want a separate spoiler discussion, but I have more to say on that side.

If it doesn't win best score imma riot. As much as I really loved other aspects of it (cinematography, lighting, characterization, costuming, dialogue...) the score is fucking divine. I had no idea going in that it was Goransson, but I also didn't know that Goransson could adapt blues this well; but by the end, I was unsurprised to see it was him in the credits. He's a fuckin wizard
Is it not weird to describe Christopher Nolan as "our own" in contradistinction to a Black filmmaker?
For more than a decade, Coogler has been Hollywood’s quiet revolutionary — symbolizing, for the Black community, a figure akin to our very own Christopher Nolan.

I'm just back from the theatre. This film is amazing and everyone (who enjoy dark humour and gore) should watch it!

My brother is dragging me off to this one, will report back.

I definitely think it'll be a contender (and should win) best score. The rest, eh, the Academy and horror don't get on frustratingly

I had to read it twice, but I think the author of the article is black and describes Coogler as the black community's version of Nolan.
Yep, now I can see that. Thanks!
Here's to hoping there are stronger contenders. I thought it was quite a bad movie all things considered
