Huh. It honestly always kind of blew me away that no snuff films were confirmed to exist yet, at least by the strictest definition. I always believed that some did exist, and just have been kept to very niche circles who don't talk about it online. There is definitely a market for it, unfortunately...

Also a warning: the article includes a still from the film. It's not gorey, but it's just a bit disturbing just knowing you're looking at a man about to be killed in a snuff film.

The one consolation is that if internet sleuths have his identity right, the man probably consented to being killed on film. Which is its own kind of horrifying, but better than the alternative.

“Not only am I ugly, but I’m also full of diseases. I can’t afford to live freely like normal folks. I have to depend on my parents my whole life. What else could I do? I truly am a prisoner of my very own fate. If it wasn’t because of God, I would’ve ended my life already… I wish to meet someone that (once we’ve become close enough) could kill me. Because I really wanted to make friends with such people, but I know that once l’ve done that, I won’t be normal again. I wanna die.”

A private message purportedly sent by apparent snuff film victim Nguyễn Xuân Đạt, translated from a screenshot

I feel like this has to qualify as some form of mental illness. Even if it was consensual, it definitely wasn't safe or sane.

Oh most definitely. Like I said, the fact he consented is his own kind of horrifying, because your brain has to be in a very weird, very bad place to agree to die as part of a fetish. There are plenty of harmful fetishes, but it's extra disturbing to see them reach the point of fatality.

That said, it's still better than people who get kidnapped and killed against their will. Snuff films are a common trope in horror media, and the horror comes from how the victims absolutely aren't willing. Both options are horrifying for very different reasons, but... Well, at least that would mean he didn't die feeling absolute terror like most murder victims. It comes from a place of misery and mental illness that no one should ever reach, but I think it's marginally better than the victim being a random person or someone betrayed by the killer.

I'm more shocked to know that none had been confirmed to exist until now. There is all kinds of dodgy and highly illegal shit on Telegram, which is why I steer clear of any links to that platform....

There is all kinds of dodgy and highly illegal shit on Telegram, which is why I steer clear of any links to that platform. Heck, a woman in my country was convicted recently for being part of an animal abuse ring that solicited and paid for videos of people torturing monkeys.

It's hard to know how to take this, because almost all of the information is unreliable. Heck, with AI, the actual video itself is unreliable. Nonetheless, I don't think AI is there yet, so I believe that the video is legit. I won't respond to most of what's in the article because I have no idea if it's about the victim or not. It's sad to me that someone died this way, though.

tbf if people were able to identify the store that sells the floor tiles, there's a high chance they will identify if it was IA on the first place. But I think it's natural to believe such videos...

tbf if people were able to identify the store that sells the floor tiles, there's a high chance they will identify if it was IA on the first place. But I think it's natural to believe such videos are fake because of how disturbing they are.
