Quite like how one can believe in a story without believing it happened, one can also think fondly of a character (like Walker) or associated jokes (like Chuck Norris did XYZ) without connecting them to the actual person too much. In this case, for the better.
Heh, yeah, I'm old. 2008 during the Prop 8 vote and aftermath (which is when I first realized what a shitty human being Norris was) still feels "recent" in my mind. ;)

Its so weird looking back at those memes with todays knowledge that all those toxic male culture jokes aren’t jokes any more and people actually try to live like that.
I entered today knowing nothing about his politics, and have now witnessing him being mourned by Benjamin Netanyahu, which is basically the fastest possible way to convince me that he was a jackass.

The article only says that he died from a medical emergency, but I think I know what happened:
Gandalf the Grey and Gandalf the White
And Monty Python and the Holy Grail's black knight
And Benito Mussolini and the Blue Meanie
And Cowboy Curtis and Jambi the Genie
Robocop, The Terminator, Captain Kirk, and Darth Vader
Lo-pan, Superman, every single Power Ranger
Bill S. Preston and Theodore Logan
Spock, The Rock, Doc Ock, and Hulk Hogan
All came out of nowhere lightning fast
And they kicked Chuck Norris in his cowboy ass

Chuck Norris was awesome until all the christian/hate stuff. His World Combat League was/is neat. it’s designed to be all action. anyways, i hope his legacy will pull more from his early years.

maybe -- it really ramped up. Did you see that video from 2012 about Obama's second term that he and his wife made? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ud3pK5Wa90 its sad to see. RIP bozo is perfect.

I'm not about to say that they gravitated toward hate when it was presented - I'm not about to believe that they were always hateful people and others aren't.
To me, some people are less attuned to nuance (by nurture) and turned on flight or fight responses when politics turned zero sum in the public sphere.
RIP. I remember seeing some action movies and his show in the 90s as a kid who was into action movies. I thought he was cool back then. Then the memes when that happened - that was pretty funny....

Doesn't really surprise me, same thing for a lot of people like him like Hulk Hogan

He more or less killed the meme himself endorsing Mike Huckabee with it.
That period was earlier for me, probably 05/06. Apparently the trend emerged in 05; I'm a little surprised at how fast that caught on in my area.

Somehow I missed this years ago. (YouTube link)
