Midweek Movie Free Talk
Have you watched any movies recently you want to discuss? Any films you want to recommend or are hyped about? Feel free to discuss anything here.
Please just try to provide fair warning of spoilers if you can.
I just got out of the theater for Godzilla Minus Zero, they were playing it early in NYC because of Godzilla day so I HAD to snag tickets because I loved the first one so much and I'm gonna be overseas on vacation on Friday. It was really really good, I enjoyed it a lot, I think it's way better than anything the American studios can put out. Minus One was a bit more cohesive imo, but it was still excellent!
Also watched Clayface on Sunday, it was much better than I thought it would be! The body horror/gore was pretty uncomfortable but the action scenes were actually incredible. I think it needed maybe another 10 minutes or so, but still. a solid 3.5/5 i'd say!
Always a shame when movies have great ideas but just lack the execution.
Tuner (2025) and The Dog Stars (2026) both fit into this. Tuner had a really excellent first half, the sound design was incredible, but the movie just became a bunch of cliches towards the end sadly. The Dog Stars never really got off the ground but it was still an interesting concept in that it did post-apocalypse a little different than usual, but also too many derivatives too sadly. 5-6/10 for both.
