There's already a big focus on TV Star Trek. Apart from 'Discovery', there are a few other series in various stages of development:
The Picard series is just one in Kurtzman's Trek empire. It will join the flagship series Star Trek Discovery, as well as Lower Decks, the upcoming half-hour animated comedy from Mike McMahan (Rick and Morty), and the shortform entry Short Treks. Other projects in development include a second kids-focused animated series (that may live outside of CBS All Access), a Discovery spinoff starring Michelle Yeoh and the younger-skewing Starfleet Academy from Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (The O.C.).
We're about to be flooded with Star Trek. It's time for another round of franchise fatigue!

I'm all for more TV Trek but it feels like they are throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks. It sort of feels like they are trying to go with the Marvel Cinematic Universe TV route (who have had 11 different shows!) especially since Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage both created Marvel's Runaways (which I think is pretty solid and could see their style translating well to a Starfleet Academy series).
My beef with the Star Trek reboots is that, for the most part, they felt to me like they were born of a table of Paramount execs saying: "Okay, we need a new blockbuster franchise." "Great! Let's...

"Space Opera! Do we have any sci-fi franchises?"
"We have Star Trek, sir, but that's not really a space opera."
"It is now! We shoot in 6 months!"
The first one was reasonably good as a link to the original timeline (especially if you're read the Star Trek: Countdown graphic novel), but it was still a bit too much shoot-em-up for my liking.
This isn't unique to the new movies though. Most Trek movies are action heavy compared to the TV shows. Like I have to ask if you feel the same way about, say, FIrst Contact

OTOH, I should point out that the original run of Star Trek movies were themselves a knee-jerk reaction from Paramount execs in response to Star Wars; they were originally going to revive Star Trek via the Phase 2 TV series.

I honestly hope this means that there would be more of a focus on TV Star Trek again.

Exactly. It's like they don't know what to do with Star Trek, so they're trying everything.
...and nothing of value was lost.

Beyond was easily my favorite out of the 3 JJverse movies, I would highly recommend watching it

I'll second that. It was the first of the JJverse films that felt like star trek and definitely gets my vote for best of the three.
Agreed: 'Beyond' was the least-bad of the Kelvin-timeline movies.
