Alita: Battle Angel

What did everyone think that saw it?

I personally loved it and really hope there's a sequel.

I haven't seen it yet, but I'm familiar with the source material. Any manga nerds want to chime in and say how far it goes and how faithful the adaptation was?

Definitely want to see it soon! Only been exposed to the manga recently from a Humble Bundle (no longer running) and impressed with it.

I think the main problem of the film was that they tried to put too much of the story into the first film of the franchise. I've never read the manga or seen the anime, but this felt like it must have been a full season's worth of story. Maybe if they'd used half as much, they could have fleshed out the romance and the serial killer mystery more, and shown us more from Alita's career as a bounty hunter and motorball player.

Also they should have given the film a proper ending. That's my main reason for not recommending it; there's no form of closure, and now we have to wait years to see the continuation. I'm really hoping this doesn't become a trend.

This is a movie you see because it is art in motion. It's a spectacle film that you should do yourself a favor by watching in IMAX 3D. There is such a crazy amount of detail to everything and you need to see all of it.
