Dune is my all-time most favourite scifi book series, and so I am super fucking excited for this movie. The cast looks perfect, and despite the trailer making it seem like nonstop action, I trust Denis Villeneuve to not go overboard with that since he seems to have a genuine respect for the source material, which is far more political intrigue and speculative religious examination focused than anything else.
Here's hoping it doesn't end up being shit... and is also successful enough to get some sequels, since the follow-up novels don't get nearly enough love, IMO.

The theater going experience is terrible where I live - people constantly talking and using their phones (college town). I’ll be seeing this on HBO Max with my nice TV and surround sound system.

But I can’t help but feel like people will be disappointed when they see the actual movie. This trailer makes it seem like a much more action packed movie than it will be. Dune is, at its heart, a story about political machinations and a political war between two factions.
I loved Villeneuve's treatment of Arrival. There was little over-the-top action or cheap violence. There weren't "yippee ki yay this is fucking MURICA we're gonna blow these aliens up"...

There weren't "yippee ki yay this is fucking MURICA we're gonna blow these aliens up" cowboy-hero-in-a-jet-fighter antics which I absolutely hate and roll my eyes at. Just a lot of time and space spent marveling at the incomprehensible alienness of the interstellar visitors.
I have high hopes that Dune will get a similarly thoughtful treatment.
I hope you’re right, but my point was more that they are advertising it as a much more action packed story than it is, so audiences will be disappointed. Unless of course they changed the story to...

Interestingly, the movie of his that could have most easily fallen into that sort of thing, Sicario, still was decidedly the complete opposite of it. The man's a true talent and I'd say he's...

The man's a true talent and I'd say he's knocked it out of the park with every movie he's put out. I don't think he's missed once so far.
I thought I remembered a militarist knucklehead in Arrival who was, well, not quite "yippee ki yay", but certainly less patient. But he definitely was relegated to a less important role. Might be...

Not quite “yippee ki yay” indeed but violently naive in a very human way. Vague spoiler But the film showed the cool-headed intellectuals, the linguist and the physicist, ultimately prevailing...

I'm so ready for this. I'm going to re-read the book so it's fresh in my mind. All of these trailers are looking so good, and I absolutely love the cast!

Pull out your wallets everyone, it’s time to vote with our money.
I’m so excited. I’m definitely seeing this in the theaters.

I’m listening to the first book right now! Started it about a week ago and finally getting into the rhythm of it.

There was a soldier who was falling for the alarmist punditry but they were definitely portrayed as in the wrong.

I just read the book for the first time last year and am super exited for this movie.
