Would love to get recommendations for songs/musicians for my get-up-and-get-ready and workout playlists - like Doja Cat, Dua Lipa, Rina Sawayama, and/or Y2K pop like Britney Spears, LFO
Hi everyone!
I have a Y2K playlist for this (Britney Spears, LFO, Destiny's Child, etc.) and another playlist with more recent music (Doja Cat, Dua Lipa, Rina Sawayama, Ariana Grande, etc.).
Sample songs from these playlists:
Rina Sawayama - XS
Doja Cat - Like That
Dua Lipa - Levitating
Britney Spears - Gimme More
LFO - Summer Girls
Destiny's Child - Independent Women
Hoping to get recommendations for songs/musicians with similar vibes. Or perhaps links to existing Tildes threads for this; I've already tried searching 90s pop / Y2K pop / Doja Cat.
I use these playlists to help me get into a more energetic mood, usually for getting ready or for working out. I listen to almost all kinds of music so I'm also open to recommendations from other genres; the above's just been my mood lately.
Thank you!
Hey OP. I'm sorry but I don't have any recommendations for you. But at the same time am embarrassed that instead of contributing, I am instead going to ask for a link of your personal playlist.
I hope you are willing to share.
Aww happy to share! Hope you enjoy :)

Hey, wow, thank you so much!
If you're into Rina Sawayama, maybe some hyperpop artists might fit your tastes. Lots of hyperpop takes inspiration from Y2K pop, though it's very exaggerated and maximalist which can definitely be grating to some people. Charli XCX, SOPHIE, and Dorian Electra all come to mind in this genre.
Might be a bit outside what you're asking for but whenever I hear the disco/funk bass lines on Dua Lipa songs I always think of Jamiroquai. There's Virtual Insanity of course but they have a lot of other great songs in their discography. Some of my favorites are Runaway, (Don't) Give Hate a Chance, Canned Heat.
+1 for Jamiroquai! Their first two albums are actually incredible.
Oohh thanks for the recommendations! "Hyperpop" is a new term for me.
I just saw that Charli XCX did a song for the Barbie movie album so I'm checking that out too :D
I don’t think I’d call them hyperpop, but sort of hyperpop-adjacent - Magdalena Bay! They have a lot of overlap with the hyperpop scene.
My favorite of their songs:
You Lose!
Hysterical Us
Dreamcatching
Thank you, I'm enjoying these! I'd probably put them in a playlist together with Metric 💕
No suggestions, just found it funny that this is how I learn that there are actually two bands called LFO. I was thinking of British techno, but then I read on and realised that they most definately don't have a song called 'Summer Girls' haha
Confidence Man
Oliver
Nitro Fun
Justice
Favored Nations
Thank you! Enjoying Confidence Man - Boyfriend in particular!
That entire album is rock solid. And sassy!
Going off of Dua Lipa...look for 90s Eurodance and House. Both genres are dance music types that are direct descendants of disco, but higher energy.
2 Unlimited - No Limit and Get Ready
Black Box - Ride on Time, Strike it Up
Livin Joy - Don't Stop Moving
Vengaboys - We Like to Party and Boom Boom Boom Boom
Eiffel 65 - Blue (Da Ba Dee)
Le Click - Tonight is the Night
Eric Prydz - Pjanoo
Cascade - Every Time We Touch
Alex Gaudino - Destination Calabria
Culture Beat - Mr Vain
Oh wow I remember a few of these! :)) Thanks for the recos!
MUNA! Songs that come to mind are I Know A Place, Silk Chiffon, and Pink Light, but they're generally super fun.
If you're open to really diverging genre, I also find kpop to be good for pump-up music! It's a bit of an adjustment genre-wise, but songs like BTS' Blood, Sweat and Tears and Itzy's Wannabe always wake me up
Thanks for the recommendations! I did enjoy the BTS / Megan Thee Stallion remix of Butter :D
Check out almost any song on Carly Rae Jepsen’s album EMOTION. I’m super fond of Run Away With Me but Emotion, I Really Like You, and Boy Problems are all great too. I’ve been hooked for a few months hahah.
If you’re open to KPop check out BLACKPINK’s songs As If It’s Your Last and Playing with Fire.
I really only know Call Me Maybe so thanks for the recommendations!
Nice thanks for all the recommendations!
Please don't let me be misunderstood - Santa Esmeralda
This is a workout song for me which keeps a good, consistent rhythm for almost exactly 10 minutes. I put this song on at the end of my workout and just pump for 10 minutes.
Nice thank you!
The whole Unforgiven album by Le Sserafim I feel like kinda fits this poppy style that I really love, if you've never given Kpop any thought! I've seen Black pink and Twice recommendations too, and I'll second those. New Jeans is the new popular band right now, which you might enjoy as well!
Oh I do like what I've heard from New Jeans! Thanks for the recommendations :D
No problem! You can always check out aespa and (g)-idle for some more Kpop as well! Imo since BTS had to go do their army stuff, Kpop has been a lot more interesting, I've been listening on and off since the SNSD days and I love to see the changes through the eras!
