Would love to get recommendations for songs/musicians for my get-up-and-get-ready and workout playlists - like Doja Cat, Dua Lipa, Rina Sawayama, and/or Y2K pop like Britney Spears, LFO

Hi everyone!

I have a Y2K playlist for this (Britney Spears, LFO, Destiny's Child, etc.) and another playlist with more recent music (Doja Cat, Dua Lipa, Rina Sawayama, Ariana Grande, etc.).

Sample songs from these playlists:
Rina Sawayama - XS
Doja Cat - Like That
Dua Lipa - Levitating
Britney Spears - Gimme More
LFO - Summer Girls
Destiny's Child - Independent Women

Hoping to get recommendations for songs/musicians with similar vibes. Or perhaps links to existing Tildes threads for this; I've already tried searching 90s pop / Y2K pop / Doja Cat.

I use these playlists to help me get into a more energetic mood, usually for getting ready or for working out. I listen to almost all kinds of music so I'm also open to recommendations from other genres; the above's just been my mood lately.

Thank you!

If you're into Rina Sawayama, maybe some hyperpop artists might fit your tastes. Lots of hyperpop takes inspiration from Y2K pop, though it's very exaggerated and maximalist which can definitely be grating to some people. Charli XCX, SOPHIE, and Dorian Electra all come to mind in this genre.
Might be a bit outside what you're asking for but whenever I hear the disco/funk bass lines on Dua Lipa songs I always think of Jamiroquai. There's Virtual Insanity of course but they have a lot of other great songs in their discography. Some of my favorites are Runaway, (Don't) Give Hate a Chance, Canned Heat.

Oohh thanks for the recommendations! "Hyperpop" is a new term for me. I just saw that Charli XCX did a song for the Barbie movie album so I'm checking that out too :D

I don’t think I’d call them hyperpop, but sort of hyperpop-adjacent - Magdalena Bay! They have a lot of overlap with the hyperpop scene. My favorite of their songs: You Lose! Hysterical Us...

If you're open to really diverging genre, I also find kpop to be good for pump-up music! It's a bit of an adjustment genre-wise, but songs like BTS' Blood, Sweat and Tears and Itzy's Wannabe always wake me up

If you’re open to KPop check out BLACKPINK’s songs As If It’s Your Last and Playing with Fire.

This is a workout song for me which keeps a good, consistent rhythm for almost exactly 10 minutes. I put this song on at the end of my workout and just pump for 10 minutes.
