    Ahhh, this is a question that brings back some memories hahah.

    • Trillian - For those who don't know it was an all in one messaging app with support for AIM, Yahoo, MSN, and IRC. Was really slick with themes (which where all the rage for all apps at the time). Granted all those messaging apps are long gone now, replaced with Discord or text or whatever, but back in the mid 2000's that was one of my most used. I guess technically it's still around, but definitely not at the level it used to be.

    • Winamp - It really whips the llama's ass! Again another app that is just obsolete due to the existence of services like Spotify, but I bet you can tell I'm partial to older apps with themes hahah.

    • Napster/Bearshare/Limewire - I kind of lumped these all together because there wasn't one in particular I far preferred. Mostly it's just due to nostalgia for the earlier days of the internet/piracy, where many now tech veterans were forged in the fires of sketchy downloads. For every legit file you could find you could also just as easily have ended up with a "Lincoln Perk - In The End V2.exe"

    • SkiFree - Does this count? I still have PTSD of that damn yeti... Shame it doesn't exist as an easter egg on newer versions of Windows.

    U.S. here. The tl;dr is over the years it has gone from cult following to fairly mainstream, albeit slightly niche.

    I’m mid 30’s so my perspective isn’t all encompassing, but growing up anime was either seen as something for nerds or something for kids. There was a decent chance that, outside of the nerdier cliques, you would get made fun of for being a weeb if you openly admitted to watching anime. The truth is, at the time, lots more people watched anime but didn’t openly admit to it.

    Now anime is akin to like Marvel movies/shows (though not as popular). Pretty widely accepted although people who are extremely into it would probably still garner a bit of judgement. A big driving factor of that is the fact that the kids who were somewhat ostracized before are now adults and openly admit to liking it. This is especially relevant for celebs/pseudo-celebs like basketball stars who have now made it “hip” to like anime, which in turn has driven younger fans to be more open about their like of anime. It’s pretty common that I see anime stickers plastered all over cars nowadays, or people who carry around items with anime branding. Overall it’s has become just another thing that people can be fans of openly, like sports teams or popular media or whatever.

    Chicory - This game has been a blast for me and my player 2. Cute graphics and design, fun boss battles (although limited combat in general), relatable and diverse characters, it's a great indie game! We spend waaaaaay too much time doing co-op paintings in the art class and it's absolutely hysterical hearing the NPCs praise our hot garbage artwork. Definitely check it out if you like relatively chill games with some puzzle mechanics and unique graphics.

    Wild Rift - Ok here me out on this. If you really like LoL but hate long game times and toxic chat, Wild Rift mostly resolves all those issues while keeping the core gameplay. Yeah the controls take a little getting used to, but the client is superior and has expanded functionality, and even in games where I'm doing bad and not having fun it only lasts like 20 minutes tops instead of 40+ minutes of misery.

    Satisfactory - Yes I've sunk too much time into automating my facilities. Yes I will continue to do so. Even though I wasn't a huge fan of Factorio this game just hits the right spots for me. Plus I just love base builders like Terraria and Satisfactory is tangentially related enough that I can enjoy the base building feel while also having completely different game mechanics and goals.

Although I enjoyed S2 better than S1, without the events of S1 the next season wouldn't have been as impactful and compelling. Definitely recommend binging immediately hahah.

    Controversial take: The Evil Dead. I know it’s lauded as a hallmark of cult films and horror, but I feel that’s because Sam Raimi’s cinematographic work is absolutely OUTSTANDING in the movie. But, if you take out the exquisite and iconic camera work, the acting is sub-par acting (sorry Bruce Campbell), lackluster plot, and incredibly dated SFX I rate the movie as ‘bad’. Though those are exactly the factors that make it so campy it wraps back around into being good hahah.

    Less controversial take: The Velocipastor. A movie that is aware of its campiness and fully embraces it. Not sure if a movie has to be unintentionally bad to fit the criteria posted by OP but this is a fun one to give a watch.

    I would recommend a couple of songs from the band FLOW, namely either COLORS or DAYS. The nice thing about FLOW is the vocals really shine and the backing instruments are very pop-rock/disco-ish so they are pleasing on the ears and have good energy. COLORS is the more popular of the two and has a bonus of being a meme song, but I personally prefer DAYS and find it a little easier to sing along to. I find they are pretty good practice songs as the enunciation of certain words are a little more staggered/prominent so you can really tell what they are singing.

    EDIT: I did remember DAYS has a kind of tough rap bit in the full version but the TV edit should be fine.

And of course chaining together goofy combos and ending in a super/mystic art was always fun. Of course when you were over-leveled you could just mash like right punch or something and bop bad seru to death hahah.

    Was recently feeling nostalgic over some RPGs I used to play back in the PS1 era and was wondering if anyone had some "hidden gems" they've been wanting to get off their chest? A couple of mine are:

    Suikoden II

    ===========
    Game of Thrones meets JRPG. Super fun story with just the right amount of twists and turns. Lots of loveable characters, both standard turn-based and tactics style combat, and fun little mini-games throughout (feudal Iron Chef fans rejoice)! The only real downsides to this game are the now outrageous price for an original copy, and the "need" to have a completed save file from Suikoden 1 to get 100% completion (and a different ending). On the brightside that means you get to play Suikoden 1, which is an excellent game in it's own right!

    Azure Dreams

    ===========
    A fun little RPG that is equal parts rogue-lite, Pokemon, dating sim, and city builder. You traverse a large tower collecting monsters that assist you in battle. With the spoils of your expeditions you can grow out the town that sits at the base of the tower, and maybe woo some love interests along the way. Character progression resets each tower expedition, but your monsters retain their levels (and it's possible to retain some gear as well). Overall was a fun game that I sunk a bit too much time into back in the day.

    Junji Ito has a very vast imagination and pushes the boundaries of what you think horror might encompass. Even if you'd prefer a more standard "novel" approach to written horror I would recommend giving him a try. He has some longer serialized works like Uzumaki and Gyo but plenty of anthology style pieces as well. And also, tangentially related, a slice of life about his cats.
