What are some good modern nu metal bands?
I'm a big fan of Nu Metal, but I've been listening to the same stuff for quite a while. (System of a Down, Slipknot, Mudvayne, Soulfly, etc.). So, I'm wanting to find some cool new bands to add to my playlist. Honestly, the only two modern acts that I know of are Crazy N' Sane and Dropout Kings.
Wargasm (UK) is one of my all time favourite bands, and they only started putting out music during the pandemic (formed 2018, so a few between then and 2020).
Wargasm - SPIT
Wargasm - RAGE ALL OVER
Wargasm - PYRO PYRO
Edit: fixed links; also: Love DK, their first EP is definitely their best work (but glitchgang is hypnotic with how much it gets stuck in my head).
Edit 2: I may have even found them via a post /u/Erik made back in 2020 on here after doing a quick search..
Discrepancies is also a heavy hitting group, love their track Control and Put 'Em Up (Feat. Dub Flow).
Wow, Control is such a good track. I'm really digging Discrepancies so far.
Just remembered about DREGG, their song Beta Gods was one of my favorites for a few weeks earlier this year, love their lyrics.
Memorrhage is pretty sick. It's a one-man cyber-nu-metal project and it's actually really quite good. Plus it's pay-what-you-want.
The guy behind it puts out a ton of stuff, none of it sounds like Memorrhage, but it might be worth digging into anyway.
Haha, there's a lot going on there, they're pretty great.
100 Gecs crosses into a ton of genres, but their latest album had one track that was an amazing nu metal anthem. Billy Knows Jamie - 100 Gecs
I was gonna say the same thing. That song is very Limp Bizkit. The whole album is a real good trip to the 00s, if not somewhat ironic at times
Nekrogoblikon is one of my favorite metal bands. They went goblin mode before goblin mode was even a thing.
No One Survives
We Need A Gimmick
Chop Suey!(Cover)
This is It
The lead singer Nicky Calonne fluctuates between a unique death growl (one of the only death growls I've grown accustomed to) and melodic singing. Sadly he's sitting out their current tour, I'm really hoping he returns.
Alestorm. Some pretty awesome pirate metal. I know it's not nu metal but still worth a mention and I think some people may enjoy them. They have a whole album where they replaced all the lyrics with dogs barking haha.
I'm not actually sure what is considered nu metal anymore. I hear so many different labels nowadays, but since the bands you listed are some of my favs, I figured I'd drop some of the new bands I've been listening to. Wage War, Sprirtbox, Sleep Token, and After the Burial are a few that are relatively new bands. Others that are still putting out new music are Gojira, I Prevail, Dayseeker, Jinjer, and Currents.
