What are some quintessential 90's-00's albums?
As the title says. Must listen albums for me would be Incubus' S.C.I.E.N.C.E and Third Eye Blind's self-titled album.

So quintessential that they're kind of cliche at this point, but Radiohead's OK Computer and Kid A
Man for some odd reason I really dig Kid A but don't much care for anything else by Radiohead
Did you listen to Amnesiac?
I really enjoy both of those albums from Radiohead. There's something about the songs that make them feel much more meaningful than a lot of the other ones that get pumped out, especially by current pop artists. I also really enjoy what they did artistically with songs like How To Disappear Completely.
Nevermind, Nirvana
Five personal favourites off the top of my head, in chronological order:
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless (1991)
Depeche Mode - Songs of Faith and Devotion (1993)
Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral (1994)
Underworld - Second Toughest in the Infants (1996)
Massive Attack - Mezzanine (1998)
Really though, there are so, so many stunning albums that came out during that decade. Pretty sure that I could easily add another 20-30 to these five with a little more thought.
Edit: I accidentally a whole word.
As a compliment to Mezzanine, Portishead - Dummy. The two are often mentioned in the same breath for good reason.
Definitely. I'll throw Tricky - Maxinquaye (1995) into the mix to complete the 90's Bristol trifecta.
Just off the top of my head.
Solid list. The Downward Spiral was more hip, but I'd argue The Fragile (especially disk two) is just as essential if you even slightly appreciate Reznor's work.
Here are four albums that epitomise the so-called 'Post-Punk Revival' sound of the early 00s.
The Strokes - Is This It
Interpol - Turn On The Bright Lights
Libertines - Up The Bracket
Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am...
Came here to say three of those! Good call on the Libertines
Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins
Quintessential metal - linked to great songs from each album, hope someone enjoys!
Agalloch - Ashes Against the Grain
Amon Amarth - Versus the World
Behemoth - The Apostasy
Bloodbath - Nightmares Made Flesh
Cannibal Corpse - Eaten Back to Life
Carcass - Heartwork
Children of Bodom - Hatebreeder
Decapitated - Nihility
Dimmu Borgir - In Sorte Diaboli
Dismember - Like an Everflowing Stream
Entombed - Left Hand Path
Epica - Design Your Universe
The Gathering - Mandylion
Gojira - From Mars to Sirius
Immortal - At the Heart of Winter
Isis - Oceanic
Kamelot - The Black Halo
Necrophagist - Onset of Putrefaction
Nile - Black Seeds of Vengeance
Nightwish - Once
Sabaton - The Art of War
Septicflesh - Communion
Strapping Young Lad - City
System of a Down - System of a Down
Týr - Land
Vader - The Beast
Wintersun - Wintersun
You've done the Lord's work.
Thanks for this!
The Mountain Goats: All Hail West Texas; Tallahassee
Jimmy Eat World: Clarity, Bleed American
blink-182: Take Off Your Pants and Jacket; Untitled
Against Me!: Reinventing Axl Rose; New Wave
Mike Kinsella: American Football; At Home With Owen
Relient K: Five Score and Seven Years Ago; Forget and Not Slow Down
Jack's Mannequin: The Dear Jack EP; Everything in Transit
Something Corporate: Audioboxer; Played in Space
There're so many more I want to list.
For me personally, it’d be the following:
They Might Be Giants - Flood
Green Day - American Idiot
Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
R.E.M. - Monster
Nirvana - Nevermind
I don’t see any RHCP on here yet, which is surprising. So I’ll say Californication and By the Way.
Edit: For some reason I thought you wanted late 90’s/early 00’s which is why I stuck with those, but definitely Blood Sugar Sex Magic as well.
Any of Elliott Smiths!
Really surprised no one has mentioned him yet. He released amazing album after amazing album in the 90s (and early 00s), along with hundreds of unreleased recordings/covers.
I'd recommend giving Either/Or a listen if you have the time.
Autobiographically speaking, strictly 90s:
Great decade for music. I could easily add another fifty to this list.
I would say mine were:
Sublime albums - 40oz to freedom / Sublime
Bush - 16 candles
Notorious BIG - Ready to die
English
Stone Temple Pilots- Core
Daft Punk - Discovery
Foo Fighters- the colour and the shape
Smash Mouth- Fush Yu Mang, Astro Lounge
Japanese
The Pillows - Fool On the Planet
Am I blind or has no one mentioned Rage Against the Machine (self titled album) 1992!
Furthermore:
Offspring - Americana 1998
Eminem - Slim Shady LP 1999
Korn - (self titled) 1994
NWA - N4Life 1992
SoundGarden - Superunknown 1994
Dr. Dre - The Chronic 1992
Green Day - Dookie 1994
Beastie Boys - Check Your Head 1992
A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory 1991
Public Enemy - Fear of a Black Planet - 1990
One I don't see listed here yet is Relationship of Command by At the Drive-In. It is THE post-hardcore album of its time.
Also surprised not to see Enema of the State by Blink-182. All the Small Things, What's my Age Again, and Adam's Song are some of the most notable songs of that era.
